To whom this may concern (AHL Playoffs)

Was just wondering if anyone knew about the NEW rules for the AHL Playoffs?

According to that ruling, Portland ( @iCh3ap ) or Providence ( @CPT ERBZ420) (depending on Providence's last 3 Games missing) should NOT be eliminated & Utica ( @v FrosTiC ) should NOT be in the Playoffs for the East due to the new ruling.

Also, It's 2 Divisional Match-ups for Round 1 & 2 (1 v 4 / 2 v 3 with winners of each round facing each other in Round 2), then it should be the Conference Finals and then the Calder Cup Finals.

So yeah, hope this will be looked at & fixed in time, and Good Luck to everyone who made the Playoffs!

The league isn't gonna change anything Mid Season. This could be used for next season tho.

 

I messaged the League before the Season started about this rule change. This was just a reminder I guess!

 

if you read it closer though, it states that if the team that is 5th in one of the divisions has more points than the 4th of the other, then that team with more points would play in the other division's playoffs, so Utica should be in and Portland out.

 

Despite it reflecting the real AHL it would be a damn shame to replace Utica with a team which has 20 less points on the season.

 

And didn't have anybody even scheduled this week.

 

You might want to go back to school and learn basic 3rd Grade English... cause if YOU read closer, it says that the Division that has "8" Teams has priority over the Division that has 7 Teams in it. So, if the 5th Place Team in Atlantic Division has more points than the 4th Place Team in North Division (and NOT the opposite) has priority. Same in the West, if the 5th Place Team in Central Division has more points than the 4th Place Team in Pacific Division (and NOT the opposite) has priority. Which means... Utica should be out, and Portland in.

In case you really can't read, this is the exact quote from the AHL website...


Which states...
"with one possibility for a crossover in each Conference... If the fifth-place team in Atlantic or Central Division finishes with a better points percentage than the fourth-place team in the North or Pacific Division"

So again... Utica should be out, Portland in!

 

Sebby is here to stir the pot, thank god there really isn't enough drama going on in the forums right now. My two cents we should take the most common sense aproach to this as possible, best 8 teams in each conference get in the playoffs, period end of story.

 

I can see a case being made to change it so that it more closely reflects the real AHL.

HOWEVER, that should be a change that is implemented between seasons, not now.

 

I've messaged the League on August 15th (still have the message in my inbox)... That's 1 month before NHL16 came out, and a month and a half before the Season started... Not my fault if they didn't implement it before the Season like they should of.

I don't think he is "bitching" about anything. This is a virtual hockey league. We simulate, to some degree, real hockey. Wanting to calculate playoff seeding using the current methodology is a valid concern.
