Top 25 Scorers TPP (Turnovers Per Point) Hello all, I did this post a few seasons ago and I find it an interesting stat. What it is is how many points the top scorers accumulate per turnover (an example would be 225 Giveaways divided 65 Points = 3.46 TPP (Turnovers Per Point) Turnovers for every point created. (Formula is Giveaways divided by Points) Do you think this is useful? Feel free to comment. I personally think it gives the Giveaways category more definition. Just a general idea of point contribution per turnover fur da boys). Enjoy! (well it was nicely spaced and organized till i submitted it then the formatting fucked up..)
Ya I thought about it, just left it out of equation cause its was more calcs and theres already giveaways vs takeaways lol
Sorry in advance because I went way too deep into this, BUT - You could've (should have?) done it as P / GA. It would've given you decimals for each person which would standardize the scale. It would be pretty cool because for Akon's stats, for example, it would be 84 / 182 = 0.46154 which means for almost every 2 times Akon turned it over he got an assist or a goal which to me is more meaningful than a number of 2.17 which to me just looks like "it's the lowest number so it's the best...I think" until I really looked at the numbers. You also could've multiplied the decimals by 100 to get a percentage of a point each giveaway represented or whatever, so for Akon it'd be 46.15%. This only works tho bc nobody in this game is ever going to get more points than giveaways (besides maybe a goalie? idk). On the other end of the spectrum with Phenom we have 77 / 402 = .19154 which means for a little more than every 5 times Phenom turned the puck over he got a goal or an assist. So at that rate he would've needed a little more than 36 more giveaways to get the 7 points he needed to match Akon's total of 84. As for percentage it'd be a measly 19.154% lol Technically, both ways show the same end goal, in a very similar way. But, I like mine better because it's on a scale of 0-1 (or 0-100 if you multiply it by 100) and I think it's easier to compare 19.154 to 46.154 than it is to compare 5.22 to 2.17 (plus with my method, the bigger number = better, which is the case for basically everything that matters). Also, I looked into this because the post is hella confusing because, while you switched the formula on top to be GA / P to match how you actually calculated the numbers, next to each player you have the equations as P / GA which doesn't give you the answers you have directly next to them. So you have Jodach 120 / 298 = 2.48 but in reality it's either 298 / 120 = 2.48 OR it's 120 / 298 = 0.40268! Sorry for going to this detail but it was a cool idea to delve into.
No problem my bad on putting the equations backwards ! And I thought about doing it that way I just feel that the GA/P way highlights the turnovers over points more so in a league that focuses on points would be a newer perspective , and the decimals to ×100 makes sense I just figured it was not needed as I can look at that and see it easily from the numbers provided my bad. Ps phone msged this so may have fk ups!
Yeah man I was just procrastinating that night instead of prepping for finals lol clearly I really didn’t want to work on anything for school. And yeah multiplying it by 100 would only work with P / GA anyways lol so it’s all good
