I heard they were free, but that was at Xbox.com and I have not confirmed that. I'm sure they aren't, but it might be worth checking.

I'm tellin' you, it's a great, fun game and my brother and I have so much competition in those games that it's a blast. We'll play all day...literally. Every single one of our games comes down to one hole or a playoff hole. We play skins and we'll start off with each of us winning a hole here and there and then we'll carry-over skins for about 8 or nine holes so it gets to the point where whoever wins the next hole wins the match.

Better yet, a majority of our games will come down to the last hole which usually ends up being 4-5 playoff holes to decide the winner. People can say what they want since I understand it to some extent. However, the competition aspect of the game is just as intense as Links.

MS shut down it's sports division. They sold everything but Amped and Links. We all used to be pretty close with the developers.

Actually, Indie Games was bought out by Take Two so Amped and Links were bought as well. I posted this at another site quite a while ago:

Is Links dead or will it be developed by Take Two?

Here's Daryl Welsh's take on it (taken from Xbox.com):

Dang :( I should've figured as much. I had bought it, but it would've been nice if they eventually became free. Sorry for the misinformation guys.

What the hey... I'll dust off the old game and see how much playing Tiger hurts your Links game.

Wow, I played a practice round on Gallery last night with the Tourney settings and actually shot a -6 right out of the gate. I still remembered my Flop distances too.

Now I'm sure that second round at Kapalua in the wind my score should "Ballon" to a nice positive number. :(

This is shaping up to be a fun little tourney, nice call Shush! 8)

78% for putts between 0-10 feet  . My whole XSN career I was 90% so that was frustrating. I missed a TON of 3-5 footers. In the first round, I 5-putted the 18th hole. That had me ready to throw the controller and quit the tournament.

Good luck to The Destroyer since he's a Tiger Woods golfer as well. It took me forever to get the elevation, lies, and wind down since both games are completely different when it comes to those things.

For now, I'm sticking with Tiger Woods because of the...oh, what's that word.....oh yeah, CONSISTENCY!!!! Jeez, I had forgotten how inconsistent that game is with it's shots.

I've already argued that one to death ;) While it may be "real", I want a game to be in my control. In this game, you can have the exact same type of shot and hit it exactly the same yet get two different results. I'll mess up shots on my own so I don't need the game to create mistakes for me.

It's kind of like ESPN baseball last year and Fight Night Round 2 this year. In last year's baseball the pitchers wouldn't always have their "A" game and people thought that made it realistic. Well, when I play a game, my intent is to have fun and be in control. Fight Night Round 2 (offline) there are some fights you just aren't meant to win or some of your haymakers don't work in all fights. Again, some people like this since not every fighter has his "A" game when they step into the ring. I, myself, am not always in the perfect mood so I don't need artificial intelligence dictating how I perform.

Anyway, I understand that not everyone hits a perfect shot in real life everytime. However, a game should be fairly consistent. The consistency I'm talking about is when you overshoot the green by about 20-30 yards. I don't think I'd ever do that in real life.

I think that this game is just as consistent as TW, it's just that there are more variables in the equation in Links than there are for TW. Most notably is the lie you have. In Links, on Advanced at least, the lie can sometimes have a significant impact on your shot. It can be difficult at times to accurately determine the slope of the ground around where you ball is lying, but in my opinion the shot will still be "consistent" as to the equation of how the slope of the lie will affect the flight of the ball.

It's consistent for the most part. But like I said above, I'm talking about the same shot, same conditions, same swing... yet it will different outcome sometimes (not all the time). It's one of the things that had always frustrated me with the game.
