I'm convinced someone could have 99 on everything and still miss wide open nets. I think OA helps with blind passes though.

Which is why you use low blade i'm guessing?

 

I alternate between low and mid. Been using mid for a while now. People say low helps puck control, but not even a steel trap could keep the puck on my stick.

 

Also helps with backhand but my backhands hit the glass

 

I'm pretty sure it has to do with positioning (affected by size), shot timing, and whether or not you're moving.

You need to face the puck head on, if you're on an angle you tend to miss the shot; you see this a lot on the cross creases where you're facing north. For this reason I always skate on the right side of the slot and then skate backwards towards the left side as the pass is coming to me.

For height the bigger I am, the further away I have to shoot. I also need to be more on the left. At 5'11 I can stand on the post, at 6'3 I have to stand on the dot in the circle. Otherwise, I have a really higher chance of shooting the puck wide.

I'm a career third liner and have never even made 'mentions' for anything though; I would take the above with a grain of salt.

I think the way attributes scale has something to so with player size and build type.

For example I ran a defensive d-man build and a two way d-man with identical athletics and size. When I played the two way d-man the improvement to speed and mobility was very noticeable. Larger players have a big boost to balance which enhances puck control. What I have found is that smaller players benefit from OA because they just aren't as strong on the puck. Larger players will notice no difference.

Also OA doesn't seem to scale very well. A little goes a long way, and a lot doesn't seem to help very much unless you are on a small build (under six foot). Who does lots of LB dekes.
