That guy better be praying to God that the Cubs win Game 7. If they don't then he better move to Miami or he's a dead man. lol
They even wrote an article on this http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=577&e=1&u=/nm/20031015/sp_nm/nl_curse_dc
poor guy lol... you said it would have the 2nd out right?? so they would still have been in the inning regardless of whether he made the catch or not?
yeah but there would of been 2 outs and less men on base. That and the team may not have lost as much focus.
I place more blame on the wildpitch and error by Gonzalez (on a double play ball) that happened just after that. They can't place all of the blame on this fan, it wasn't a sure thing that Alou would have caught it anyhow.
no kidding cuz his arm would have smacked against the wall after that catch...he wouldve atleast been in some pain for sure
People need to chill out. He wasn't the only person trying to snag the ball. Unfortunatly he was the one that made contact. Not counting Alou there were quite a hands in the mix in an attempt to catch it. Knowing people this guy should be worried about the crazy bastages that think he is the sole reason the Cubs lost. I would be worried if I was him. Some pyscho with a third grade education and a series of TV boxes strung together to form his own personal cardboard mansion might try something stupid. There are too many crazy and stupid people in the world to simply dismiss the possibility of someone trying to harm him. If the guy was a 12 year old kid then I wouldn't be as worried but you never know about some people. I am rooting for the Cubs just for this guy's sake.
Knowing Cubs fans, if they blow game 7, I'm sure all of the blame for not going to the World Series will be because of this guy though. I mean, if they had only gotten that 2nd out in the 8th, then I'm sure the other 4 outs would have gone down in order. Yeah right, you can't assume that, but all of Chicago will. This all reminds me of the '85 World Series, game 6, Cardinals 3 outs from winning the Championship (and had not given up a 9th inning lead all season) and Don Denkinger blows an obvious call (replays clearly showed the call was wrong) at 1B calling the leadoff hitter safe. Later in the inning 1B Jack Clark and C Darrell Porter let a pop foul drop between them. There was also a wild pitch that allowed the tying and winning runs advance to 2B and 3B. Of course, the Cards imploded, and ended up losing the game and the series (in embarrassing fashion, game 7 was 11-0.) But just like the Cubs if they end up losing game 7, it was all their fault (not the fans, or Denkinger). The Cards had a 3-1 series lead and only needed to play .333 ball in the next 3 games (sending a pair of 20 game winners to the mound for games 6 and 7...) but they still ended up losing the series.
While I am a big Chicago fan I do not blame this guy. Should he have done that? Nope. Should we have givin up 8 runs because of it? Nope. Yea, if Alou would have gotten that, 2 outs, we probably coulda gotten out with only giving up 1 run. So yea that fan hurt us, but we also hurt ourselves. Game 7's are always fun neways....I just hope Wood has a great game.
