Are the Buffalo Sabres the greatest team in the Eastern Conference? They are making a strong case for it with a record of 27-7-2 after 4 weeks of virtual hockey. The current leaders in the race for the presidents trophy are proving the naysayers wrong with a team built on chemistry, dynamic offense, good defensemen and top tier goaltending. The Naysayers : @Brocceh - Ranked the Sabres 4th in the Atlantic while giving the offense a 6/10 @Joffman- - Ranked the Sabres 15/32. C’mon Joff, put some respect on Waldo’s name! @FrenchMoron & @TakeNotes97 - Wake up tbnk stop making us QC look smug all the time. _____________________________________________________________________ WALDO : A JIM GREGORY AWARD AND ART ROSS TROPHY CANDIDATE? @Wxldo62 who’s led Buffalo to some good runs over the past seasons is an example of hard work, patience and perseverance. His management decisions as well as the hockey he’s been playing has been a huge reason the Sabres have found success this season. HOMEGROWN STARS Buffalo has some great talent that has spent most if not all of their NHL careers wearing the royal blue. Names that come to mind are the Dooleys! @BobbyStokers911, @Biscuitz29, @Critch30, @Birdo43 & @Ghelm14 are products of good recruitment and letting players grow together. Their 8-3-1 record is impressive considering the opponents they’ve faced with a 94.1 oppw%. EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS We’ve seen a lot of defensemen turned forward this summer season and I can’t see anyone that has found more success than @Hughsy28-. He’s found the back of the net 20 times already this season and has been a big factor of his line being 11-1-0. He’s been taking advantage of a great situation on the wing of Wxldo and @savvy16 and I see them maintaining this success throughout the season. BEST HEADBAND IN THE GAME The man, the myth, the legend : @KROFTONITE Consistently a solid goaltender, he’s worth every bit of that 2.25M contract for his play, reliability, the good vibes and winning culture he brings. He’s in my top 3 for goalies I'd love to have in a game 7 and he ain’t number 2 or 3. SPEAKING OF GAME 7 So Buffalo is probably the best 3 line team in the league right now but how do they fare in a game 7? I really like the experience @X_Smitty30_X & @dankchank bring to this group when it comes to winning in the postseason. Add to that the skill of @llaytxn_, @sycch & Krofto, you’ve got yourself a game 7 ready line up that can contend with the best of em. I do think adding another big name on left wing would make them a bigger threat if it comes down to a game 7 versus a team like the Flyers, but it’s not worth dismantling the core over. FINAL WORDS I’ve gotten the chance to chat with the owner himself today Mr. Waldo and the takeaway I've gotten is the importance of a team's culture. Team Culture : A collection of values, behaviors, working practices, and beliefs that team members share while aiming to fulfill their collective purpose. From my perspective, the Buffalo Sabers seem to be an example of tremendous team culture year after year. This season they’re in sync chasing the goal of winning the franchise’s 3rd Stanley Cup but most importantly the first under the Wxldo era!
Good reg season team but a so-so playoffs team . Can’t wait to see what they’re gonna do in playoffs but def a contender
Don't know why I'm tagged here but let's assume I hurt one of your friends feelings. First off @TakeNotes97 isn't QC. 2nd off not one of us said they weren't the best team in the East. I actually tend to agree they're the best built especially for regular season. Not too many teams have the luxury of having 9M on their 3rd line. Calling us nay-sayers and smugs for simply saying that pumping your own tires is pretty cringe. I'll be a nay-sayer and a smug all day if that's what they are. Congrats @Wxldo62 you built a great team. You're just soft. Have a great day my fellow nerds!
Never a doubt! Congratulations @Wxldo62 and all off the Sabres on what they accomplished this season.
