WJC changes I'd like to see on NHL 23 my suggestion is make WJC a mid season event with only prospects eligible to be on WJC rosters with a couple Veterans as management. Do we really need a tournament for players who miss playoffs or are eliminated in the first round?
To help clarify, the goal of WJC isn't to re-enact the event, but to help fill the space between LG seasons, which can be 6+ weeks on their own. It's also a good chance for those exploring management to test the waters, as there's less of a commitment than the full season. Occasionally, it's a chance for a player on TC to finally get regular playing time to prove themselves, or a player to experiment with another position. For guys like me, who basically took the season off because they couldn't commit to it, gives us a chance to get some competitive games in while waiting for next season. But more than anything, the goal is to keep players active on the site and in LG-affiliated events, as the majority of the players won't pay any more attention to the playoffs once they've been eliminated. Additionally, the approach you suggested, minus the mid-season part, was tried on PSN a few seasons ago, where there are proportionally more Prospects than there are on Xbox, and it was an unmitigated disaster (not enough teams, not enough Prospects knowing the rules and procedures, and a lot of upset A and V players feeling pushed away by the league). To answer your question: If the goal is to keep the NHL community engaged and growing on LG, the answer is "Yes". Even the AHL and NHL has their version in the IHL tournament for the same reasons (though, a more intermittent event, to be honest).
Yeah I understand what you are saying. To me WJC I think of prospects and DP players. I'm cool with the eliminated players tournament. I would prefer maybe the @LG McDonald Cup lol (Spengler Cup)
It would have to be on weekends and off nights, if not that would just delay the season which we are looking to shorten come 23
