So.. Comets are going to fall off because you dont really know any big names on the team? lol a lot of the bad ratings are going to teams where you dont know about the players, seems more like a you problem not knowing why some teams are doing well
I agree with this. It felt like you only knew maybe 10% of the league or so. And it seemed like the players you knew were players you were calling bad/past their prime. It's just that there were only a handful of players that you actually had something positive to say about and that doesn't feel like media, that feels more like you're praising your friends. I don't know, I've never liked media because that's usually what it does turn into, but whenever someone new tries it, I give it a watch. The problem is that most media follows a format of, "I know 2 or 3 people from each team and I'm going to comment on them even know 95% of the community also knows those same 2-3 people and I'm not going to do any research or provide any real insight for the majority of the roster even though they are why a team is actually succeeding or failing". And I'm not saying that as an insult to you, that's just the trend that media has taken for a long, long time and it's normal to try to take from the media that came before. I'm definitely not saying I could do any better. I know maybe 40% of the league at most and every week there's people being called up or sent down. It's tough for me to keep track of everything as well. But you did make a 40 minute video, you clearly put time and effort into it, but there were over 500 people that played in the AHL this week. Assuming rosters are bad because you don't recognize players and you expecting them to fall off for that reason is a little bit crazy. If anything, you should expect a roster to fall off if you know the players and think they're outperforming expectations. How can you say that people you don't know are outperforming what they're capable of? I don't know, that seemed to come up quite often and since I wasn't the only one to notice that, I figure I should also comment on it. Take notes on players, go into a team's page with the intent to talk about select players (especially players that don't get talked about much or are new to the AHL), reach out to players/managers on teams that you don't know much about and ask them questions so you do know insightful information. It's little things that will make the media better. But I appreciate the time and effort that you put into the first one and hopefully they only get better and better with each one.
