Playoffs should be 10min.
LG used to have 10 min periods.

Ranked games are consistently less laggy.

 

Do you know they are less laggy by fact, or just going off what other people have said? I ONLY ask because I haven't seen a difference whatsoever.

 

And from what I'm told, FIFA leagues are 10 mins basically a half and works out to be the same time frame that hockey games would run as well.

not sure if this a troll or not but i'll bite. icing cannot be turned off. you can only change rules to international or off.

jbidd, i know a lot of carolina's games didnt start until 10:15 and a few even after and it would run into the next game especially if there was lagouts. it's a good idea but i don't think right now it's plausible. you might want to relax, it kinda sounds like you're challenging everyone who is disagreeing with you but obviously i can't tell over the internet. either way you made your point so let people discuss it.

I hardly think I need to "relax", its pretty clear I'd like too see this happen, and I am allowing anyone to clearly voice there opinion and accepting it, I just see a pretty simple answer for most things brought about... Kind of like you stating that Carolina started many games past the 10:15 minute mark, I'm not one to promote forfeits, but if your team can't get a line together within the TIME that is given well that's not my issue or my teams, that why we have a full ahl squad, maybe the owner and gm should put in place a ecu roster spot for F,D,G INCASE someone from the team doesn't show, they will have a guy available right away knowing he could be used.

Also for a discussion to be had, people need an answer to issues or concerns to talk about, without a response the thread dies along with the idea.

Not sure it will be best for the league and everyone in it. Not a bad idea though.

 

I remember in the PC days we used to have our leagues be 7 min periods. It was really the best of both worlds

 

Late starts (ex. 10 min after the hour) + lagout(s) + Sudden death OT makes it too problematic in my opinion. Early games could easily affect the later games.

What about having less games, 1 a night (5 games a week) with the longer periods? It would be an interesting concept and I think it would have to be done on a longer basis, meaning that it would take longer weeks and you would probably only get two a year, playing like a real NHL season just having a Fall & Spring (before and after Xmas).

 

Just do what can am does play 2 combined games and make them as one.

 

I like the idea but there should be a mercy rule which would be for example... If a team is up by 6 goals going into the 3rd then it would be a mercy rule and the game would end. Or at any point in the 3rd period if a team went up by six then the mercy rule would kick in. Just a thought. I really wish games could be a little longer.. maybe make them 8 minutes? I hate how short the games are now.

I've always had a problem with how short games are. In EASHL its different, you play scrubs most of the time. In these 6 vs 6 leagues, stoppages are few and far between due to the skill on the ice. This leads to the clock running most of the time, and shorter games.

I say go for it. 10 minute periods, 1 game a night if people can't fit 2 into their schedule. I like the idea

 

I played in a league that used 10 minute period. The scores were high pretty much every game. Some games were low scoring, but Higher score at weighed the lower ones by far.

You also do not get realistic stats.

 

My opinion is let's not fix something that isn't broke. I do like the idea of moving to ranked though. I know, at least in the games I've played, ranked is consistently less laggy than unranked, but I am not sure if that is just coincidence.
