As a goalie I think the builds are good this year. As far as the traits I think they actually work this year unlike last year. Would also like the ability to take away one or both of the primary traits to add a second specialty trait.
I’m still confused how core balance takes away anything shot related. In fact you would think it may help shooting. Also confused on how defensive trait makes your weaker..imo traits shouldn’t decrease any stat. But I’m old and wtf do I know.
I'm gonna guess that you sit on the goal line and play left and right bubble hockey goalie like what kind of worked the last few years. Goalie is one of the few things that have been improved balancing wise, even if there's a few problems(weak five hole goals, some...iffy...rebound control) that should be able to easily balance, that are causing overall lower save %'s than last year. There's actually a skill gap in net this year, which is nice
There's actually a skill gap this year for goalie. So if you're complaining about getting lit up maybe goalie isn't for you.
There is no need for using traits as a goalie.. zero reason last year or this year, this year it is a lot more about positioning than it ever has been I've tried every configuration on traits in different slots, and builds in different heights weights no difference, now I'm not an Elite Esports Goalie by any means
Goalies simply don’t use traits other than the passing one, simply because lowering your high/low save numbers aren’t worth it. All somebody has to do pregame is notice your traits and they’ll know where you’re weak, and I don’t think that’s a good idea. As for a skater, I don’t think traits should have a negative effect on a player at all. Having higher agility shouldn’t make you accelerate slower. Being stronger shouldn’t make your deke success rate go down. The skater numbers are low enough as is, we shouldn’t be forced to negatively affect them even further. If player ratings went up across the board (which I certainly think they should), this would be a non issue. We’re running around with like >75 overall skaters in most cases. Also, remove the awareness traits. They’re pointless.
Tell them to bring back full customization of your attributes and boosts. Im pretty sure at least 90% of the community would like that to be brought back.
The negative effects of some traits, especially the ones that impact shooting, are so severe because the ratings of the EASHL builds are already low.
This whole “trait debate” could be removed by just letting us customize our own builds. Tailor them to our own strength and weaknesses, as opposed to forcing these cookie cutter builds down our throats with “traits” that affect us negatively. If we have our customs back, we can make adjustments if certain things don’t work. As it stands currently, there are hardly any adjustments we can make to our builds that make an actual difference. You don’t see games like call of duty giving us preset classes. They allow for creativity and different playstyles to shine. Moreover, you don’t see call of duty adding stupid clauses like “If you attach a red dot sight to your weapon, it reduces hip fire accuracy”. That’s essentially what NHL is doing, they’ve removed any and all creativity with our current build setup and forced a rather subpar system on us.
