    The St. Louis Cardinals ( :bstl: ) became the first team to clinch a playoff spot today, with a 7-0 defeat of the Arizona Diamondbacks. That made the magic number 1, but after the Cubs were defeated by the Cincinnati Reds, 7-6, it was final.
