3 Lines but not 3 Gs?

You are missing my point. I mentioned this because you used a stat that 6 of 62 are in the top 10 while 4 of 16 are in the top 10. Not a good example to use. Numbers are not comparable ( 25% of "top goalies" are in the top 10 and 10% of unknown goalies are in the top 10). Also goalies that go cheaper (wish I could go for 500K), the team then has more salary to build a better team around them. I also said "it actually had traction with some other top goalies and decided to make a post on it to see how the community felt about it." I then said "As I thought, majority of the community (that only plays 3 games) are against it."

I keep going because of this "I'm mostly playing devils advocate here on people's arguments against it because I don't think they are sound reasons why things can't change."

I get it people think we don't have enough good goalies to have 3 per roster to be competitive but then you have people arguing there are plenty of good 500K to 1 mil goalies and they don't matter much. So which is it...

 

It's both. Most teams would rather have a cheap tandem that can make the saves they are supposed to than one all star goalie that takes up that 1.5 - 2 mill cap. That's how most good teams build, is cheap goalies.

Devils advocate or not, you have to see why there's push back on this. Your way makes it so the people who want to play 6 LITERALLY CAN'T, whereas, the league as is now, anyone can choose to only play 3.

 

So if skaters want to play 6 we should let them play 6 and the other lines fill in the rest of the games?

 

Not sure the argument here... you can just link that back to the surplus of forward and D, or the fact there's more skilled forward and D than goalies due to the surplus?

 

I respect your points they make sense but I truly believe the skill gap in goalies will be one of the many reasons this doesn't happen

 

That is the problem with most in this league. They aren't committed anymore whether it be growing up and more responsibilities, tired of the game, or hate the game but still play it because of the community. So they end up handcuffing teams with your poor availability that they clearly lied about signing up for the season. IMO LG isn't strict enough on it's requirements of only a mere 4 out of 9 game requirement. Should be no less than 6 games min availability.

And you are right about how people lie about their availability in order to go cheap or where they want. Which is why the stricter requirements should be enforced for signing up and throughout the season.

Don't forget about the 3 players we can have on the roster but not use too.

 

I like playing as many games as possible, and this pretty much eliminates the ability for a team to have a starting goalie

 

Maybe give the option to have a 3rd goalie if you want? I don't like the idea of mandatory 3 goalies - I think there should be a dynamic between starter and backup. 3 goalies at 3 games per week doesn't separate one from the other. If you divide the games differently with more for a starter and less for backups, you'll have a problem finding a guy who is willing to be the 3rd goalie and play 1 game per week. Might as well just ECU the 3rd goalie if you have a couple guys that don't want to play 5 or 6 games.

 

Just get rid of goalies. Bunch of weirdos if you ask me.

 

You’re lucky if you can get 1 goalie who doesn’t blow a bag of dicks. 3 would be a disaster.
