AHL Mid-Season Goalie Awards

I Feel there is never any love shown towards us goalies and its pretty bad since we play the hardest position in the game. but i thought i'd take some time to talk about the good and the bad; in regards to goalies, and hand out some awards and talk about who's hot, who's not, etc... .

Now with that boring stuff being said which probably no one read and skipped over, lets get into the fun stuff!

Now in order to be included in any of these, you need to have played a minimum of 10 games (i think in 10 games you should be able to showcase your performance stat wise)

By the way, i am a goalie as well so before you read what i say below here, just know i love every single one of the goalies that play this position because it is extremely hard.


so lets start with the bottom of the totem pole for Goalies in the AHL with the bottom 10

wow.... now look, it hurts so much to look at those stats, in my opinion, anything below 75 sv% is just plain terrible. and anything above a 3.0 gaa isn't good either.
I know in some way Goalie play is reflective of how your defense is, and obviously these teams defenses just aint helping these goalies out. But at the same time these goalies aren't helping their team out either. as goalie you are the last line of defense when all else fails, and your team needs you to be the third defender to keep that puck out of the net, and letting up 4 goals against a game is never gonna help your team AT ALL.

I understand playing Goalie is extremely complicated and sometimes frustrating, but if you're not good, don't pick the goalie position please. its as simple as that.

Good job every body in this top 10 list here! you all are doing an amazing job representing your AHL team, Obiously these 10 individual goalies are the best of the best that some NHL, and All the AHL has to offer. anything above 80.0% for a save percentage is an amazing stat, and anything below 2.50gaa is awesome. its so goo to see fellow goalies playing lights out with the new goalie changes and not complaining about them, but instead, finding new ways to better your performance and adapting to a new play style! real quick shout out to my Fellow "GAE'rs" (Viva LA Rangers and Nightmare xX). for the teams that bidder on these players, good job, you found gems in the haystack with these beauties playing goalie, hopefully everyone finishes off their season even stronger!

Now on to the next award which is awarded to the goalie with the most shutouts on the season so far! (minimum 10 games)

and we actually have a TIE!

Great Job Fellas! 4 shutouts so far is an amazing feat considering how this game likes to award skaters bullshit goals and how our goalies just don't wanna save the puck sometimes! getting 1 or two shutouts on a season is pretty difficult, but at the rate you are going, its possible to say they might tack on another 3 or 4 as well! not just props to the goalies, but the defenders on the teams as well helping the goalies too!

Tremendous Job Smelly! playing 20 games and only letting in 41 goals in amazing! some goalies let in over 70 goals in 20 games, so good job on that one! hopefully you can keep out that effort of almost a 2gaa a game!
