I have been trying to get the forth skill for a character and I can't get to be ranked #1. I have one two grand slams and a few other big tournaments and still only ranked #3. In both of the tournaments I haven't had to play the top 2 ranked guys for some reason. I guess they were eliminated early in the tournament or whatever. Well I'll try a few more events I guess, but I thought winning to majors in a row would do it.
Now I have won 3 grand slams and still ranked #2. I don't get it. I haven't played the #1 ranked guy in any of the slams. Well I guess I'll play the one more of the slams and I would hope that would bring me to #1
i won all 4 and was still ranked 2, i think it's what you do at the start , if you lose or drop out of a tournament the other gain points on you
I won all of them now and finally got ranked first. I hadn't lost any tournaments I entered with that character either. Just for some reason none of the top 2 guys would be in the tournaments I had entered until the last slam.
I only needed 2 slams to get my #1 ranking. Like Tris10 said, alot of it depends on what you did earlier, and your ranking where you started the slam. Don't try a GS tournament unless you are top 5 or so... otherwise your points won't jump up enough to take over the #1. Instead, play all of the Major Pro tournaments available, and THEN do the GS's.
i was ranked #1 without winning any slams. i just woin all the minor-pro and some pro tourney's and i was ranked #1 i guess it matters what contenient your home country is on. i was born in Europe so i started there and since tennis isn't popular in North America u don't get that much better in rankings or something like that i have no idea how the ranking works
Yeah, you suck. I know this because I lost in the finals of my first Pro tourney also. You're not alone. :cry:
If you want to be ranked one just do a lot of small tournies, it's all about your ATP points, earn those, consideirng all you've done you should be pretty close, I think I had about 673 or so when i had to get over Sampras when he was 1st with 653 pts.

Whew! Finally got to number one only by playing pro, pro-am, and minor pro tournaments. Now going to see if winning the grand slam gets me the fourth skill.
yup - it will. i actually won all the pro ($100,000) tourneys, and then won one major pro ($500,000) tourney - and was ranked number 1! then i won the pseudo-US Open to get the 4th skill...
Damm!! I am #2 and losing pts on Pete by playing the other tourney's. He has like 753 and I have like 689.
lol, i know... i made the mistake of not doing all the minors, pros, before tackling the aussie open (which i won). now, i am struggling to get to #1
the ign guide says that you have to get to #1 and beat the #1 guy in your seedings. There have been several #1 players in my career, so i'm not sure about that yet... But it didn't mention anything about having to win a Grand Slam.
The IGN guide is crappola then. Legend status is what is required to gain the 4th skill. To become a Legend, you have to win a Grand Slam title AND gain #1 status.
