    ESPN Football Demo I

Just got the demo from OXM and it looks and plays great. I can't score yet, but thats because I'm still used to last years version. A lot has changed in this version, and all for the good. No longer do you have to press a 12 times to get the guy you want to be on defense. You now use the A and Y buttons to go forward and back.

The choose play screen is really Madden-esque. Wish they would have come up with something more original, but anything from what they used last year was better.

Animations are really looks realistic as well. New tackles, including the new "gang tackles" are neat. Instead of one guy hitting you and everyone else just toppling over, you now see one guy grabbing your leg, and the other your arm, and one even trying to strip the ball!

Controls are the same, and more responsive, and gone are the drop passes - but the interception ratio is higher. I have gotten only one pass completed so far out of about 10. The rest have been interception. But the good part is they CATCH the ball.

No first person option or voice in this demo, but I guess that is because its a demo. Will get more info when I get more play time in.

    Anyone else have it?

And you can now also set the audible that you want. No more with choosing what they gave you. Unless there was an option in 2K3 to do that which I haven't found yet.

I I got my demo of it like 2 weeks ago.....I really liked it. I never played 2k3 so I don't know what the pet peeves were, but this game seems cool.

Got some more one on one time with the game, and it has really tight AI. I don't throw pics anymore, and they don't score, but if this is any indication of the real game, it will be tough. I'm guessing this is set on the default Pro difficulty, but either way, it is still very fun. Everything is just new and polished, so if you like 2K3, you will love this. Everything is just better, and nothing got worse.

Yeah, you can change your audibles on the fly in NFL2K3. When you are picking your play, you just hold down the left trigger I think and hit the button you want for the audible, like a, x, or b. then it is the new audible. So you can change your audibles every play.

You know.. it might not be the left trigger, but it is definitely a different button, like the black or the white one. Can't remember, it's been too long and I don't have the game anymore.

Yeah, in game (ESPN Football) you push the L trigger, and then you pick one of your three audible plays. I just played some 2K3 and you can do it under the audible manager screen.

I guess apparently ya didn't know this, but you can switch guys on defense by holding down the B button, and pushing the direction pad around to switch to who you want...

Now you tell me this. I have gotten used to counting the number of times that I have to press the button to get the guy that I want. :)

I didn't know that either. Guess it pays to crack the manual every now and then.

    Thanks for the tip Mike.

That is my downfall with games, I NEVER read the book. But its cool because I find out new things once a month. Like the audible thing, and now the switch guy thing.

Oh hey, this is my 1000th post!!! Let me celebrate in the off topic lounge.

I thought the demo was a lot of fun. Wish there was commentary, though. And, I wanted to be Ricky!
