How do they decide the top QB in the nfl? It isnt by this QB rating junk is it? Someone who has thrown 100+ less passes is of course more likely to have higher percentage and lower number of INT's

The QB Rating takes into consideration the TD and INTs along with the number of attempts. The main problem with so many very hight QB Ratings is that the avg yardage for completion is much higher than the real NFL. And the many break aways for 60+ TD scores is much greater.

So in a sense the QB Rating goes through and removes the differences between the numbers and gives you one number. However quite a few of the individual calculations end up maxed out on the scale which could cause some rating to not be as high as you might think they should be.

But hey, I only passed in order to run the ball much like a lot of people this season and I found myself just running out the clock once I was ever up by 2TD's or more in the 2nd half.

Peyton shoulda laid off the INTs... took less chances... tossed the ball away... there is no shame in it. If he played a little less brazenly instead of trying to force the ball, then perhaps Peyton would have had the top rating... Peyton has to learn when to throw the ball away...

Yes, the QB Rating is always used to determine the best QB for the year. They typically have a minimum number of games played or passes thrown to qualify (to filter out a backup's 1 game performance) but the QBR is what is used to determine the best passer for the year.

Like DeNMaN said, the calculation has limits so that it doesn't let you weigh to heavily on one stat in the calculation. I too would have had many more pass attempts and yards if I hadn't been running the ball the whole 2nd half to keep the score down and to avoid getting fingered for "running it up".

Like Ted said, Peyton's problem is the INT's. I'm guessing that most of those were due to you trying to force the ball to Harrison, despite double or triple coverage (which most of the time doesn't matter against him). If you had thrown only 10 INT's rather than 15, your QBR would have been 133.6, good enough for 1st place.

Actually most of them would come on weird crap like a pass to my flats....lol When the ball is thrown to Harrison it is almost never picked off...its all the other chumps on my team who run into each other on routes or just get flat out schooled by the CB's

Some of those passing yards might have come from Chris Chandler who was 11/20 i think. Either way it is right around 100.

Post his completions/attempts/TD's/INT and total yards passing (just add up your receivers yardage). I'll punch it in for you.

FYI, in my old thread I linked a program that lets you run Excel files w/o needing Excel.

Yea, Denman got it for me. And MP, Chandler only threw for like 75 yards I think that game, so its all good, but yea right around that # is correct.

Oh yeah, Drew Brees with the most yards! Even if it did take him like over 100 more attempts.
