    Fundamental Flaw in

When you are on defense and reviewing the formation/coverage of the offense you can tell whether your opponent is running or passing:

HB Icon white = Passing Play
HB Icon black = Running Play

This works with about 95% of the formations in the game. EA is taking the position that this is not a glitch and it was intended (I can't stop laughing). Accordingly, they will not issue a patch or recall the game.

I challenge anyone to convince me that the consumer wins when exclusive licenses are granted.

Thanks again EA. You guys rule.

    This should be fun.

I also would like to know if any of you still feel that we can run a league with knowing this exists in the gameplay?

Just to let you know as well, EA is offering refunds to those who want them. Most stores will not accept an open package but EA advised me yesterday ( yes, I called) that they will send any consumer, who can provide a copy of a reciept that is not older than 90 days, an unopened Madden to take back to your local video game store for a possible full refund.

    New Features for 2006

    - QB Cone Vision
    - Precision Passing
    - Disclose whether you are running or passing by the color of your HB's Icon!

LOL! Wow, this is a HUGE deal actually. Running a league may be tough seeing as how you will know if your opponent is running or passing.

I don't think it would be a big deal. You still have to stop it, it's not like you know what running play is about to come at you and you can only control one player at a time.

It makes setting up audibles that much more important.

Yea, which means there will have to be about 10 minutes before every game to set up audibles and edit depth charts. I do not understand why we can't save that stuff in like an online user profile or something. It gets very tedious having to due it before every game.

Depth chart changes made offline transfers over to online play. Audibles transfer over as well if you use the same playbook that you made the audibles for. For example, if you use Chicago's playbook offline and have your audibles setup for that playbook, when u go online you will have the same audibles already set. Just make sure you save your roster and profile offline first.

Why are audibles more important? If you audible from run to pass the HBs icon changes as well.

But i agree with lilheavy. 50% of the time you probably could guess whether you opponent was running or passing anyway. And you dont know exactly where the play is going,.

But it still is lame and i cant believe they didnt catch this in testing. MORONS.

How come this wasn't pointed out in any of the reviews of the game?

I agree. As I've said elsewhere, this definitely hurts the game, but I don't think it completely kills it ;)

They should've caught this because there is NO way this was intentional

Because people that review games suck. I know, that's a lame way to word this, but it's true. I hate game reviewers ;)

I don't think this was actually an easy thing to catch. I mean if it wasn't intentional then it got through testing. One person probably caught it by chance talked about it on a forum and then it spread from there like wildfire after it was tested out online.

pass play: 5 receiver set, you know it's a pass but who do you cover/double team? which side of the field is you safety going to pinch? either way you will have at least 1 receiver open, find him.

Run play: which side is the run to, left, right, up the middle? in a 2 back formation, who gets the ball and which side will the play go?

and don't forget about the audible at the last second....

I am not convinced that it is as easy to write this off yet, the game of football has always been a violent chess match and this adds to the game. In chess you see the other players formations and can counter them, why should it be different in video game football? just because I know it's run or pass doesn't always mean 100% of the time you can stop the play....

The only thing is if you know its a run you could easily bring your two safeties up and have them blitz, that would be the only advantage you could take since you know you don't need two guys in a zone. As far as passing, you wouldn't know to which guy.

And lilheavy, I had no idea it saved your offline depth charts. Is that new this year or did 2005 do that as well? I will have to check that out. Thanks!

*the only thing i dont understand is:

if its open, why cant you return for a refund. as long its not damage, WE MUST HAVE THE RIGHT TO RETURN any merchandize that fails our expectations. the retailers should say that we could return PROVIDED we return it within say.... 5 days.

if we can return shoes, dress etc.... why not video games??? :x
