the bottom line is you won by 1 goal both olympics now with a team that boasts a 4th line like Duchene Sharp and Bergeron.....while we have blake wheeler oshie and paul stastny its a 1 game elimination against guys your teammates with, do you really think orpik is going to rag crosby around and risk hurting him for NHL season? No Or Dustin Brown on Carter? Backes on Pieterangelo and Bo? No NHL players playing in the Olympics is stupid, its a little more physical all-star game and you actually block shots. They need national teams to decide this, because last time I checked Canada's world juniors has done nothing in recent years, that's a better measure of Canada Vs USA then the Olympics. Edit: Meant to reply to the duchene guy matt
Are you saying that people actually care more about their career than they do an exhibition game? … nonsense!
canada basketball is lookin good, LOL. We have Bennett the number 1 flop from last season, the invisible man Tristan Thompson in Cleveland, underweight Samuel Dalembert in DAL, immaculate STEVE FUCKIN NASH, Andrew Nicholson ORL, white boy Kelly Olynyk BOS, and future 1st overall pick ANDREW WIINS aka KD JR. Canada basketball is improving despite having population that is roughly 10% of the US population. MERICA.
Obviously better than the Cleveland Cav's GM. He also isn't going to be the #1 pick, that is in reference to Wiggins. Prospects are prospects for a reason … When Kobe went 13th overall no one knew that he was going to be one of the best to ever play the game. Bottom line Wiggins has lost his spot as the hyped #1 player in the nation and theres a reason for that.
This is irrelevant, Canada would MAYBE compete for bronze with that kind of line-up. US still wouldn't be challenged.
Canada has won one medal....80 years ago. I don't know if that is good or bad since it was before the (insert racial comments). What do all those dashes mean? Is that good?
Surprised the US didn't medal in hockey they deserved better. Basketball invented by a Canadian but definitely perfected by a majority of American players. Hope Canada can defeat those lingonberry loving Swedes.
I'm sure Lebron, Durant, George, Paul, Howard, Curry, Rose, Westbrook, Harden, Aldridge, Love, Williams, Irving, Griffin, Rondo, (just to name a handful) wouldn't mind letting the Canadian kids keep their bronze streak.
Lazy are you saying that Canada is going to be better than the US in basketball by the 2020 Olympics?
Ya thats what it seemed like. If youre just trying to say that Canada is improving in basketball I dont think many people will disagree. As far as hockey goes, and this isnt really only directed at you, its the 4th most popular sport in the US and its Canadas national past time. For the US to only lose by 1 goal to Canada the past 2 olympics isnt anything to be ashamed of for a country that doesnt totally embrace hockey. I grew up right outside of Chicago and my high school didnt even have a hockey team. We have some areas like Pittsburgh and all over Minnesota where hockey is played everywhere but the vast majority of the country hockey just isnt main stream. Of the 4 most popular sports in the US, 1 (football) clearly is dominated by Americans, but it is also very popular in other countries. 2 (basketball) as discussed, besides 1 slip up when the best players didnt want to play the USA has steamrolled. Basketball is a huge sport all over the world and is played almost everywhere and the US is by far the best. 3 (baseball) Japan and latin american countries like the Dominican Republic have closed the gap and are right on par with the US. Its not an olympic sport but if it was the US would be amongst the favorites to win it. 4 (hockey) not the best but can always compete. We have the potential to medal in every olympics and have closed the gap with Canada and most euro teams. Most countries have their 1 sport where theyre great at and thats just what everyone plays, whether its soccer, hockey, basketball, etc. the fact that the US is either the best or near the top of 4 of the most popular team sports world wide is impressive despite losing 1-0 to the best hockey team in the world. Yes, I didnt include soccer because its just not that popular here. Also, whoever in this thread was trying to say shit like curling or skiing in a half pipe or whatever other terrible events that are in the olympics are real sports, LOL.
