Kiroxy's LG Fortnite Idea

So with the popularity of Fortnite as large as it is, and seeing as most people in the chatbox are either looking for 6s or a Fortnite squad. I figured, why not brainstorm an idea for a Fortnite league on LG. So here it goes!

Number of Teams: 32
Main Roster Size: 6
Format: 2v2 Kill Based

Rosters
Rosters can either be built through the LG tradition of bidding with a cap space of lets say 15 mil, or since most of us have a group of guys we typically play with, teams can just be created by an Owner applying, getting accepted, and then sending out team invites to those who have signed up for the league. All left over players after all 32 teams have been filled out, will go into a random assignment TC role.

Schedule
Well, again, since most I see in the chatbox is guys looking for either 6s or Fortnite squads. The best way to do this, would be to avoid interfering with NHL as much as possible. So a teams weekly schedule would look roughly like this.
Wednesday: 2 Games at 8 and 9 est
Thursday: 2 Games at 8 and 9 est
Friday: 2 Games at 8 and 9 est
Saturday: 3 Games at 8, 9, and 10 est

Game Format
2v2 Kill Based Best of 2
How does this work? Everyone scheduled for this game joins the SAME squad. Its played in squad no fill. One duo vs the other. The duo with the most kills after 2 games wins the match. If the score is tied after 2 games, then a 3rd round will need to be played and so on, until a winner is produced.

Example:

Game 1
Team A: 12 Kills
Team B: 8 Kills

Game 2
Team A: 9 Kills
Team B: 14 Kills

Totals
Team A: 21 Kills
Team B: 22 Kills

Team B Wins


Restrictions:
1 - A roster player is only allowed to play 3 games a week. TCs can play 2 games a week.
2 - Sabotaging is not allowed. Meaning if Team B is building up to launch pad or just building up in general, Team A can not destroy the build to bring Team B down to their death, nor can they impulse Team B off a mountain or their builds, etc.
**If Sabotaging occurs, all kills for the team at fault in that round, are wiped out. Meaning 0 kills for that specific round**

Match Reporting
In order to properly report a score you will need the following:
- A Screen shot of the kill total for everyone in the game (Push start once a victory royal was achieved or once everyone has died)
- To prove sabotaging if its being disputed against, utilize the replay system and record the instance in which sabotaging occurred.

** So that's pretty much the gist of my idea for a LG Fortnite league, I personally think it would be a fun way to fill any off season voids or provide something for players to do on the weekends. Maybe even give players that dont have the opportunity to play in the other leagues LG offers a place to play.

Interesting idea. Another possible issue I would see here is possibly teams colluding when it gets close to playoff time. "I don't like this team, so we'll work together to help you win/get more kills to pass them."

 

Yeah I can see what you mean. I don't really seeing it being a popular issue, in fact I could see it being a very rare one. As your kills and deaths will be recorded in your stats. I've played in a few tournaments, where the kill counts would be as low as 3-2 in a best of one format. I feel like it would take a bit more to try and force a team out of playoffs by throwing games. But I could for sure see that as a possibility, but at the same time, how often does an NHL team throw a game just to try and help out another team. Good point, would for sure need to brainstorm ways of preventing this, or minimizing the possibilities of it happening.

One way to circumvent this, would be to make the playoff pool rather large. Like a 16 team 4 round playoffs. This is just the first thought I had when I read that. I think with a large playoff pool, the chances of this happening is minimized a bit.

Or this could be just a once a week tournament thing, sort of like the SNP set up. You and your duo sign up and play. If the popularity is outstanding, then we could start to push harder for a league. With it only being teams of 2, the tournament would have to be set up as first come, first serve max of 16 teams.

I like the idea of trying out an entire league rather than just an FNP type tournament. Would be important to know what the deal is with ESHL first so the times for something like this avoids conflicting with that as well.

Also I'm sure @l Ristolainen l would be thrilled to help run this.

 

The thing I like most about this, is I feel the overall skill gap would be pretty small. Meaning it would be highly competitive and intense league play.

Playoffs would be insane for this. The 2 best duos on the 2 best teams going head to head in a game 5 or 7 to decide the championship.

 

Alright so, I’ve heard back from Brodie on this idea. He fears that the league will depend heavily on the LGHL leagues for recruitment of players. Well that may be true for right now, but if you guys have 1-2 friends (outside of LG)that you know would be interested, let me know or let them know about the potential league.

I’d say yes on the PSN side if PSN has a fort league as well. Just because they can utilize a mouse and keyboard as well. If you play in the Xbox side, not only are you using mouse and keyboard, but you’re also putting controllers in a game vs other mouse and keyboards. And I don’t want to see that being the reason people won’t play in the league.

Yeah I agree... They do have advantage but nick mercs does just fine against them. I know on ps4 you can plug in a keyboard and mouse
