Yeah, but I hope he plays Center and Jim goes to left instead of sending Pujols out to left.

I dunno, usually when you acquire somebody as good as Larry Walker, you let him play where he wants.

Sorry, for some reason I had it stuck in my head that he was a CF, don't know why though. Was probably thinking about Steve Finley :?

He can play. It was made using waivers. They must sneak a player through waivers basically, and then the other team can pick him up and sign them off of waivers, and send stuff to the other team in exchange. So people could still end up in other places, ala Larry Walker, and Roberto Alamar.

It's very common for trades to happen after the deadline, but it's usually for very high salaried players who won't get grabbed when they go through waivers.

Basically, if a deal is done after the deadline, all of the players go on waivers and anyone can pick them up (at their salary, which in Walkers case I guess wasn't too attractive to any other contenders).

The deadline for postseason rosters is Sept 1st I believe. Rosters expand to 40 players sometime around then but your 25 man roster (or whatever the number is for postseason) gets set then.
