I should have brought this up way beforehand but I thought I was in the minority with this view. anyway I think that the season is way.too long, and I think interest will dwindle with so.few.teams, if there were more teams a.month and a half would'd fine but that is not the case, would rather see a.one month season and after that hold a single day.tournament to close out nhl 14.

Well I agree that 1st place is a bit large and 2nd place should have a bidder cut in both cases, just didn't want to take the conversation to that level. You still need consistency which this doesn't have. If bumping the 1st number of team 2nd place cut up, then so be it but the way it is now you could be influencing the teams who feel they have a chance to win it all to keep the number down. Why loose 10% for having one or a couple extra teams? There would be a counter to promoting teams to join unless it appears they can get a large number of teams. Motivation would be to keep this smaller to win bigger.

If I was on a team favorite to win, I'd go out of my way to make sure no more than 20 teams signed up.

Just saying but, you do realize that the more teams, the more money there will be in the end right?

with 21 teams, the winning team would get 1051.05
So in order for the 10% to kick in, there needs to be 19 or 20 teams. at 18 teams, the winner would make 1039. at 17 teams, 981. So the only way that they would lose money for THIS tourney is if 19 teams sign up and then we go up to 21.
At 20 teams, it's 1155, so the 1st team loses money from 20 teams to 23 teams.

So basically, the 1st team loses 100 bucks from 20 to 21.

Only way I can see to fix it is to increase from 25 to 30% for 20- teams for 2nd place and have it 70% for 1st place. So they both loses 5%.

 

Yeah, this kind of makes my point. I understand that there needs to be a big jump in teams before it takes enough affect for the 1st place team to benefit having more teams.

 

Sent out a PM to the committee regarding the playoff series lengths. Most likely result will be 5-5-5-7 but I'll keep everyone posted. Also asked about the % for 1st and 2nd (might lower it to 70/30 for the lower number of teams.

 

5-5-5-7 is now official (Had 7 people vote, 5 picked 5-5-5-7)
70/30 for less than 20 was the official change as well, same 5/7 on that vote.

There are buttons that say individual and team payment on the side of this forum. It's all done through paypal.

 

If your team is going to be buying in individually make sure EVERYONE on your team is paying $10 from their account, otherwise please utilize the team buy in option by having one person collect the money and send it to LG.
