Dings has once again made a team that on paper should be in the playoff picture once again. They will be depending heavily on their LWs to head the offense for each line with a trio like Tony, JJR, and Tenacious. Past those three you have some questions about center depth (as in who's even their 3rd center) and who they will be pairing with each LW. On the backend they are going to expect Fisher to be elite on defense although there are questions about his avail after recently being booted from Raw Talent. Without him the defense loses the critical depth that gives them an advantage at that position compared to divisional opponents. In net both Shutthegate and Johansen are solid goaltenders.

At43 has to be a bit happier with this lineup compared to last season. The forward depth is there and having Keapps as your number 1 center isn't a bad choice at all and Sauce is also finally on a reasonable contract. The only question is whether Schwatz is worth that 5 million dollar price tag. At defense they may lack that elite d man but for the cap invested they got good pickups. Trocity is a great choice for 500k and Fox is going to be a steal if he plays like he can at forward. Is this the season Perri isn't on a horrible team at an insane contract price? Only time will tell.

What else can you say about this S29 Detroit team? Not only did Tyrone2Tap aka "Gwan" make it to this team in bidding but then it is uncovered that Shmurds aka xRaantax31x did the sneakiest move in a long time, circumventing the snake list by signing up, retiring, changing his username, signing up again, and then pulling out the "Trade me to Lou or I retire" line.

The forward core is still as solid as it was before. If Jeff shows up for more than 15 games this season that's going to be an excellent pickup for 2m. Although Lou will definitely want to upgrade his third line forwards if possible, Web and bbx are more than good enough for the time being. Defensively they move Chief for two good third pair guys in Daguy and Slammerama. Both may not put up great points totals but expect them to help keep the goals against total down. The question is who will they get from Edmonton after they trade @Proud Gay Dad? Konz is one of the best and a returning Jewest One will have time to reacquaint himself to chel after his deployment.

Stastny has done an okay job assembling this lineup after his first run in NHL bidding. Serpe, Hriiz, and AlexiKovalev are good wingers to have but the question mark is going to be the center positon. S4K isn't considered to be a top line center so all eyes are going to be on the draftee Capitalize to perform like he did in the CHL last season. Defensively they are lacking the depth of some of their divisional counterparts but like Buffalo they don't have any bad contracts either. Dualtz is great for 500k and if things go pear shaped he will be a huge trade asset for a contender wanting to upgrade. In net Rockystar is a decent starting option and BAllen is another question mark that could end up being a huge payoff if he performs well.

*The reason I'm going to grade this as a full team now unlike Detroit is because the main solution I see at the moment is to waive Luusky (who's exempt) and play him as an ECU for the missing d man until they can sort out the cap space.

Knight is the carrying on the tradition of goalie ownership after Poopie gave up his position last season. But unlike the Edmonton meme generator Knight is a CANAM CHAMP. At forward one thing immediately stands out to me, RockTalkPod legend himself JackD00P going for 8.5m. This is an albatross of a contract and sticks him to the team come hell or high water. With Bigjay and A1xFreak you have a line that takes up over half of your cap space and it isn't the most impressive trio for that amount of cap spent. JBT at 1m on defense is a great deal the immediately slapped a 3 season deal on him. Desyd at 4.75 isn't too bad either. Luusky is also a great player and they ought to find the cap space to keep him up full time. Knight and Coach Denham in net is also a great duo. This will be a team to watch the first few weeks both on the ice and in the trade news.

The lineup speaks for itself. A great "game 7" lineup and great depth contracts to boot. xo Super at 500k is a steal. The only question is if Spence can perform like he did in the AHL which is highly likely with the support he'll have here. Mr. Old Gen himself has signed a two season deal as he loves NHL18 so much he'll be playing it in the summer! Defensively Panda is great when his internet behaves, and Neal is a great depth d man option. In net Kerns and Bones ought to be a good duo if Kerns shouldering most of the load to start. I personally haven't seen Bones play but I've only heard good things.

Bossy and Slim have done some mesh of S28 Ottawa, Toronto, and Detroit that looks quite interesting on paper. Chislett and Haxby will be good if they actually play and don't ego Tampa management. Wadden and Dirtracer are excellent pickups for 500k. Defensively there is a big hole at LD. Keith and McNasty are a good 2nd pair, but is Hotwing really your top pair option with Canuck x 16? They could also really struggle defensively this season with a 3rd pair of CKlim and MagixStix. Delosh is going to get his chance to start this season after a great season 28. Like Buffalo's backup, HawkNation is unproven and has stats that don't look appeasing but I assume they see something in him.

Toronto has done well to spread out their cap to all the critical positions to create a playoff team. They are going to depend on McFleury aka Pabst 19 to perform like he did last season while being supported by his drinking buddy Hischier (Pabst 12). They also have a fair amount of forward depth as well and if Flode/aelgi pan out you have a real sleeper team here. At defense FreeStyle, Dxwny, Semp, and Super Marky is a fantastic top 4. Trio Bigmac is going to have it easy if he gets to beat up on weak depth lines. Rainz and Wall are an adequate pairing but don't expect them to steal any games.

DIVISION PREDICTION


I expect Ottawa to run away with this one as the other contenders are still sorting out their rosters early. Detroit and Boston are the front runners for the divisional seeds but they are no guarantees to make it in if they were to falter. Montreal, Buffalo, and Toronto will be hot on their heels and to obtain potential wild card spots. Florida and Tampa are going to have to play above their expectations to change the minds of many including myself.
