Media LGHL Season 31: Teams to keep an eye on in bidding

Going to drop a quick article on a couple teams I will be keeping my eye on going into the draft and bidding over the next week and a half. Feel free to list yours below with your thoughts included!



Anaheim Ducks

Anaheim was a cup contender last season that got disappointingly eliminated by the eventual cup winners. They manage to upgrade the GM position from an excellent Soy Los to one of the best in Odie, ensuring a strong defense for next season. The big question is how they will fill out their roster with the limited cap space. They need 8 players (3 forwards, 3 defense, 2 Goalies) with only 13.25 million to spend. They have their top lines filled, normally the hardest thing to piece together, but to reestablish themselves as a cup contender again they will need some steals in bidding and maybe from the draft.

The Senators are under new ownership (if only this was real life right??) with 2x Calder winner Krawch taking the team over. He's inherited a pretty solid core of players all on good contracts. People may be asking who BuddyWhackit is but looking at his stats shows that he is NO joke (consider his NHL stats were on a Vatty team). If Grigs and Suter give the man a chance there is some serious potential here. The question is if they can turn that 18.25 million into an elite top line and solid defensive depth which is a tough ask.




St. Louis Blues

Jerz has himself quite the situation here. No GM announcement yet and a lot of cap space tied into two centers. 15 million for 11 contracts is going to be extremely difficult to manage if he is stuck in day 2 or 3 with many bidding wars still going on. Finding any GM at this point would be a big cap relief. There is potential that Jackz takes the management position which would be a great choice and open up 22 million for 11 positions. If this team comes into the season looking like a contender that would ease the speculation that this could be a bad team for season 31.

Great writeup Taco! I hate to change things on you right away, but we ended up acquiring @OBrien x 8 and @Girgss today too in exchange for some returning pieces we had. That all being said, I appreciate the kind words. These Ducks are looking forward to getting started!
