5. Martin St. Louis - New York Rangers - 88 Overall 4. Patrick Kane - Chicago Blackhawks - 89 Overall 3. Phil Kessel - Toronto Maple Leafs - 90 Overall 2. Marian Hossa - Chicago Blackhawks - 91 Overall 1. Corey Perry - Anaheim Ducks - 92 Overall
For people who watch the hawks regularly, you know Hossa should be rated OVERALL higher than Kane. He plays a monster defensive game, Kane doesn't really play any D. Phil Kessel being rated higher than Kane though...is a joke.
I was never much of a big Kessel fan until I read an article talking about him, and advanced stats. Im pretty sure he started something along the lines of +55% of his shifts in the defensive zone, which for a point-per-game player is quite rare. He also only had 20 power play points while most the other leaders in points last season had 30+ coming with the man advantage. I'm not saying he's better than Kane, but they are extremely close, so it shouldn't be as big of a deal as you guys are making it out to be. PS im not even a leafs fan, go figure
You guys need to realize that the ratings are skewed because some players, like Perry and Hossa have way better defensive categories. This in turn makes their overalls higher over a guy like Kane who is weak in the defensive aspect of the game.
