Uhhhh....correct me if I am wrong here, but they did lose some big names, including Vincente Damphousse and Mike Ricci, and I believe also some others.

In that case, Damphousse won't even be on the Avalanche roster with the start date.

I sure hope we wait until the 1st roster update is released to start the league, I want the teams that are up to date :). Hopefully it just doesn't take forever.

i hope they release the updated rosters before the end of september. that way we could have our league start before october like before.

btw, tris, how many weeks for season 6? i hope 16 weeks so we could have more wild cards.

Even without Ricci and Damphousse..Sharks should be higher than 11th.

How so? They had one exceptional year and all of a sudden they should be ranked amungst the constant powerhouses of the NHL?

They were also a power house 2 seasons ago...the year before the Ducks went to the Finals, they were a powerhouse in the NHL, winning the Pacific Division.

I would definetly say that they are a powerhouse in the NHL, they are dominant. Now I didn't say that they were # 1, or Top 5 material, before anybody asks/accises!

I would say they are good, but they are a constant powerhouse like the teams ahead of them. What about last season? They weren't too hot then, I think they are in a very solid position in overall standings and right where they should be. The only exception would be the Flames being rated higher, but they did beat them in a playoff series.

Yep, Flames had Mighty Ducks ( :hana: ) and Carolina Hurricanes ( :hcar: ) written all over them, and still do, until they prove themselves....which they probably won't have the chance to do this year around.

I mean the 'Canes came out of pretty much nowhere, being a lower team, and having one outstanding year. Same cannot be said with the Ducks. They have always been an above average team, making the playoff's most of their short stay in the NHL. Then they had one year where they outplayed lots of teams, from the opening drop to the final siren.

Flames, were the same way pretty much, came in with a lower seed (seed # 6), with one superstar on their team ( Jarome Iginla), where as the Ducks had the same...(seed # 7), and Paul Kariya. Turns out their goalie would be the exact same, Ducks having Jean-Sebastian Giguere, and Flames having Miikka Kipprusoff. Giguere didn't have so hot of a year in '03-'04, but will Miikka have better off once hockey actually restarts? And will Jarome Iginla stay healthy unlike Paul? Only time will tell.

These rankings aren't accurate (Ex. Florida is 21 not 22 and pittsburgh 26th not 27)
