    Hey get this pop,

:hbuf: resigns Maxim Afinogenov (to avoid arbitration).

No terms were disclosed but since they avoided the arbitrator it should help them with Briere. Briere is a necessity to be resigned.

Briere is back baby! :hbuf: accepted the contract from the arbitrator!

Now to look for a replacement for him for next season.....because his contract will only rise from $5 million each season.

Dumont has been released. I expected it after the signings of Afinogenov and Briere (Afinogenov got a $10 mill deal for 3 years). Mair was signed after his arbitration, so all whose left is Miller and Kalinin.

NHL.com keeps saying BUF needs to find Dumont's replacement, they dont need to - the Sabres got plenty of young prospects to use instead of signing a veteran. Novotny is an easy choice to replace Dumont.

thanks for going 37-8 when it didnt matter and then laying a freaking egg in post season play.

    * he's a chubby little fella , odds are :hstl: will regret that addition to the contract.

I'll take Legace over Hasek anyday (post 2000 era). At least Legace's balls are still intact.

I would honestly like to know why Ken Holland thought that the combination of Legace / Osgood was good enough to win , Legace is a career back up at best and Ozzie is past his prime. It sickens me to hear the clowns on SportsCenter refer to Legace as a Stanley Cup winning goaltender, HE WAS ON THE FREAKING BENCH FOR ALL 3!!!

I am no fan of Hasek , this is yet another recipe for disaster.

At some point the Wing fans need to admit that they got beat by a YOUNGER and FASTER team in the playoffs. Edmonton earned the respect of all the teams they beat in the playoffs EXCEPT Detroit :? Seems to me Holland needs to examine himself and the team HE built in front of Legace. They may have been a good group for the regular season but they obviously weren't built for the long haul of playoff hockey.

Good luck with Hasek.....I say he is done by X-Mas. Then what? Osgood? or do they try and get Patrick Roy to come out of retirement?

have a look at the Roster from last year , Detroit has plenty of youth and depth.

heres a sneak peak at what is coming out of Motown:

    Igor Grigorenko

    Jiri Hudler

    Valtteri Filppula

    Jakub Kindl

    Evan McGrath

that would be awesome if Hasek can make it until Xmas, Jimmy Howard / Stefan Liv / Joey Macdonald will fit in nice.

    Depth chart:

some names you may not be familiar with , but you will be

Definately some good looking prospects but they are just that...prospects. Every team has good looking prospects. With so many players disappointing fans with underachievement you will have to wait and see if their success can continue in the NHL, especially those european players.

I have little doubt in the Detroit scouting staff ,

Niklas Lidstrom - round 3 #53 overall 1989 NHL Entry Draft

Vladamir Konstantinov - round 11 #221 overall 1989 NHL Entry Draft

Sergei Fedorov - round 4 #74 overall 1989 NHL Entry Draft

Pavel Datsyuk - round 6 #171 overall 1998 NHL Entry Draft

Henrik Zetterberg - round 7 #210 overall 1999 NHL Entry Draft

Tomas Holmstrom - round 10 #257 overall 1994 NHL Entry Draft

those are just 6 guys off the top of my head that panned out well for the Wings , all taken in late rounds

That's great but I am just saying that pretty much most teams can come out with just as impressive prospects to brag about.

YOU NAILED IT RIGHT ON THE HEAD!

Legace wasn't at fault for the playoffs, it was the lack of a team effort. Granted a goalie should help the team, but the team should help their goalie. Look at the Oilers, they lost their starter right from the get-go in the Stanley Cup, and they lasted 7 games because they bucked up and helped out their youngster goalies.

JP Dumont went on to sign with the :hnas:

Also, Tim Connolly's future in hockey is questionable, that concussion he suffered in Game 2 vs. :hott: is still affecting him.

Im not really a Dumont fan, and to me he is way too inconsistent he will go on big stretches and then do absoulty nothing for the next several games not worth it IMO

I'll miss Dumont, but am glad :hbuf: didnt sign him because he is not $2.9 million worthy. Hell Briere is getting $5 mill, I hate that considering that wont go any lower in the coming decade, unless he has a truly shitty season, so he will probably be out the door next season unless we win the Cup.
