Since Foote has signed with CBus, I wonder if that means Forsberg will be back with the Avs?

I just hope the rest of the Euro punks see what a class act this guy is, signing for 1.5 million to allow the team to sign available free agents and free up cap room. Datsyuk is a real dissapointment, he can go to hell for all I care and other Euro clown that doesn't see the big picture. The free agency for big dollars market is closed now boys....

Ahh but thats not the case. Your a Detroit fan and ur used to seeing big name players to DET and have a stacked team. I think players should get what the player deserves. I think the time is over for seeing teams just get stacked up cause they can go out and spend the $$. IF they wanna keep Datsyuk ( in my mind one of the most skilled players in the nhl) they are gonna have to pay him Datsyuk $$... I mean heck i dont know HOW THE HELL HOLIK signed for 4 + Million again over 3 years. He should get 2 mil @ most. The man has never gotten over like 65pts in a single season. Still Boggles my mind.

Gurps, I am tired of people saying that about Detroit, really it has to stop. Look at the roster from the last 22 years please, most of the talent that has gone through Motown was drafted and groomed through the farm system in the AHL with the exception of free agent signings that served the purpose and are now gone. The only reason Detroit has/had such a high payroll was because they wanted to keep the talent they drafted and raised and believe in rewarding their own. The players that Ken Holland has picked up through trades also served their purpose and they will be weeded out. It's a scary thought that the Detroit scouts are that good eh?

Considering they generally do well in the regular season and aren't afforded a top 10 pick every year, here is the list of players that Detroit has drafted:.
    Detroit draft

as you can see alot of players were scouted by the Wings, brought up to the big leagues and were paid what they demanded. I'm not sure how old you are, but I remember the 80's and Detroit was brutal did you know that they had to give cars away at home games to fill seats? . Mike Illitch bought the team and the dream, he fulfilled that dream for the fans in 1997, 98 & 2002 through the draft and key trades.

OH Dont get me Wrong . DEtroit Red Wings have probably the best scouting Staff in the NHL for a long time. BUT!

I aint talking about the 80's and really we're all really more focused on recent history.

    Hasek
    Hull
    Robitaille
    Hatcher
    Cujo
    Whittney
Chelios even though its been awhile

Aswell as other weak trades where DET may have picked up big Salaries in return giving picks and med. players.

    Lang
    Schnieder

But your right the scouting is good.

Speaking of ex-Red Wings, the talk is Darren McCarty is coming to Calgary. There is a large commotion in the last hour that Calgary has signed deals with both him and Amonte.

On a sad note we lost Marty Gelinas today to the Panthers.:(

they sucked through the 80's and paid their dues, the recent success of the franchise is a lure to big name players and the Wings want what every other team in the NHL wants, to win. The fact that the Wings have had some of the games biggest names is only a part of the puzzle, Scotty was another piece. It's not easy having a Ferrari to drive with only a begginers license, ask Dave Lewis. This year will be a true test of what they are made of as a team, with every team basically starting from scratch....

Junk, Darren would fit in well in Calgary, he will be missed by some fans of Detroit.
