With NHL 23 being cross platform there are a few options for lg. It seems it can’t be a split (16 Xbox and 16 psn teams) because it would interfere with the ahl chl system.Would people rather have a separate cross platform league or an all star league for one console above the nhl? Both would make it more competitive.
Why not? You'd just split the AHL as well and add an ECHL as a level below the AHL. CHL could be 2 leagues on each console, each winner goes to the mem cup 2 xbox vs 2 ps5. Should have the numbers for that.
Simply because they won’t do it. That would be good or something like that. The 16 Xbox and psn teams have separate bidding. If it’s too much of a problem to just split the nhl can split the ahl/chl also but don’t think they would do that based on recent comments lg has made. Would make it easier for them to have it as a separate league or just have the all star league. The separate cross platform league can also be used as a test to see how it goes before making it permanent.
would be nice to have 1 NHL that has psn and xbox players, the best of the best as we all want. im not sure how the cross platform would work just yet when it comes to LG leagues but this could be huge. 1 Main AHL league with the same idea as the NHL and then all the leftovers go to the CHL/ECHL leagues.
For the moment this wont be possible cause cross play will only work for matchmaking, ie you cant have a mixed group in a Dr i believe.
I think 16 Xbox vs 16 PSN teams would be a mess. Any good PSN player owns 2 gaming consoles and would play on Xbox to increase their chances of being on a good team. We'd end up with a more top-heavy NHL league than we already have -- which worsens an existing problem. But I agree that the league needs a structural change. It's getting very repetitive and the time is now since it's a new game cycle. I'm all for a league above the NHL, even if that means it's a smaller league.
I think LG should at least do a game or series of whoever wins the cup on xbox vs psn and same with the other two leagues (calder and mem cups).
