*OFFICIAL* EA Sports NHL 09 Wish List

Please post here what you would like to see added or tweaked to NHL 09 , this list will find it's way to EA Sports Developers courtesy of our new partnership with Crashthenet.ca. The developers at EA Sports have proven that they do listen to us as end consumers and are trying to deliver the best possible experience online and offline, here is your chance to make your thoughts heard....

 

This is now a running list , repeats will not be listed:

• Broken Sticks
• Line changes - change offense and defense separately.
• Real Arena Team Specific music
• Players seperated from the stick more frequently
• Tighter Defensive controls , 08 is better than 07 but 09 should be Tight.
• Web based League support playoffs in online leagues as well as publish the standings, stats, schedule to an external website (EA Sportsworld...? )
• Legends... Howe.... Gretzky.... Bossy
• Classic Uniforms
• Lose the tape to tape passing.
• Brashear not being able to do the same moves as AO.
• Player name database like 2k.
• AI teammates that will set up for you in scoring positions
• AI teammates that play defense
• Take away the restricted control of goalie in Goalie Mode (which can be done by pressing LT)
• Sliders

• Major penalities (5 min) aside from fighting & perhaps 10 min misconducts & even suspensions if warranted.
• Fighting physics improved, with a 'team brawl' or 3rd man in option to instigate a brawl.

• Advanced passing mode. Almost like the R-B+R-TS mixed with wrist shot feel
• 1st person or over the shoulder view
• Starts seperated not locked in with buttons for jersey grabbing
• Able to jab with left hand that's holding jersey

• Buttons for head movement and pulling down opponenets head
• Clinch/Takedown system for when you're getting worked over

• they need a superstar mode

• Fans who stay seated until an anticipated shot, goal or fight sort of thing and than jump up in excitement
• Bring back the hat trick tradition of throwing hats

• Real Refs (McGoo and those guys, if they are still around)

• Blood (this would mess with the rating)
• Locker room cinematics (no I'm not gay)

• customizable period lengths. 5-minute intervals should be trimmed to 2 minute intervals
• A big improvement i think would be to be able to control the power of your passes, alot of the time I wanna thread the needle up the middle and it turns out to be a dinky pass that gets picked off easily.
• Also in fighting grabbing the jersey with either hand and jabbing with the hand holding the jersey, pulling the jersey in different directions, punching with both hands, uppercuts..
• Lastly it would be cool to see helmets and gloves come off in big hits, and not as many hip checks where the guy getting hit does a flip every time.. also hitting into the players bench once in a while.
• How bout highlights from other games from your Dynasty, I kinda remember this from an earlier game or am I thinking football?
• To add to that, highlights from other games that highlight big events, such as a 50 goal scorer, a team making the playoffs, goalie just got his 10th shuout of the season, etc etc
• out of town scoreboards
• goalies that push or throw punches against skaters that swipe a little late
• guys getting pummeled for running or bumping the goalie
• coach tantrums (yelling at the ref or other coaches)
• 2 captains talking to refs after a big fight or penalty
• On that note, also more animations other than guys pushing each other around, it just looks weird when the whistle blows and everyone just freezes.
• be able to save replays, and send them to friends and upload them online. (think how sweet it would be if we could have highlights with game recaps on the web!!)=P~
• Instead have custom options for the creator of the game to set goalie on/off player lock on/off etc. Then when someone tries to be goalie in the non goalie lobby it could say "sorry manual goalies restricted by user" or something.
• THE ABILITY TO TURN OFF REPLAYS ONLINE.
• Barry Melrose with the ESPN license.
• Skills Competition
• CALL Interference
• Less goalposts
• SCHEDULED ROSTER UPDATES: I'm tired of wondering. My guess is if they did one once a month, it would be easier to keep up with.
• When clearing the puck, keep it in the rink. It is a little ridiculous as it is now.
• CREATED PLAYS ONLINE
• Bring back the 3 Stars of the game presentation
• Why only the National Anthem? Why not "Oh Canada" in Canadian cities? (I'm pretty sure it's just the National Anthem..Could be wrong on this one)
• Better pre-game animations...Prior to the anthem, dim the lights, rock the house and show the home team coming down the tunnel and taking the ice.
• USER stats for Online Team Play
• attendence drop or change.. team doing crappy.. you have a hard time filling seats.
• Scrums, I would like to see a lot of pushing after certain plays (Jabbing at a loose puck around the goalie, late hits, dirty hits, hits on a star player...etc). I would have them consist of a push button, and a grab button.. and of course if two guys wanna fight, they would use Y.
• Crowd mode. Kinda a corny but fun idea. Basically you can go in and watch games, since everyone has a mic, you can start chants, boo players..etc.
  This would obviously only work if they managed to eliminate spectator lag from affecting the players.

• Faceoff Glitch

 

Classic uniforms.. im sure ill think of more but thats the first thing that came to mind.

I would most like them to make goalies much better and be able to save alot because no body likes high scoring games anymore tight games are much more fun

better goalie physics.. the odd desperation save and have goalies actually play like they play.. such as hasek playing like hasek.. and giguire lookings bigger in the shoulder pads and such

This will probably be ironed out in 08, I think it may be a bug, but I would like to see all three human controlled players on the ice for shorthanded situations and overtime. Possible sitting the player controlled person out if they get the penalty (curtsey of MrBaconbottom) It is too random atm. Finally, all three players shoot in a shootout if need be.

Actually use the damn ESPN license. More integration with real shows and stats via ESPN.com. More than anything I would like to see some measure of pregame show or a beginning, mid-season and playoffs show with analysis of upcoming games and predictions.

 

Most of my concerns were listed already....

The biggies are...
Communication to the other team in between periods and after the game.
league support like 2ksports (so we can scrape scores)
Fantasy draft.
Alternate players shooting the shootout, not just 1 guy.
5v5 or 6v6 online team play.
When penalties are given, THAT player sits in the box.
Delay of game penalty for shooting the puck out of the rink.
Major penalities (5 min) aside from fighting & perhaps 10 min misconducts & even suspensions if warranted.
Fighting physics improved, with a 'team brawl' or 3rd man in option to instigate a brawl.
Close goals, where an instant replay is needed.
Hire Joe Bowen to call the plays in the game.

I realy would like to see this done. Press the R-Trigger and that is pass mode. You aim with left Analog and pass with Right. For a scaucer pass just do like wrist shot, push right or left then up.

That should eliminate the tape to tape and make the One-Timer alot harder.

 

i would like to see the last-man button for defence. its hard to change players during Defence transition. i dont know if the EA guys was able to figure out how to remove the OTL point even if u L in the reg. game.

 

Better fighting engine: I envision something like the Fight Night game. With the following features.

-1st person or over the shoulder view
-Starts seperated not locked in with buttons for jersey grabbing
-Able to jab with left hand that's holding jersey
-Helmet popper punches
-Buttons for head movement and pulling down opponenets head
-Clinch/Takedown system for when you're getting worked over
-60 second time limit


Second I thought of some sort of momentum system/meter that builds up with scoring chances/hard hits/fight wins/amazing saves. As you build the meter the crowd gets louder and louder or you take the home crowd out of the game. With a higher meter you get some sort of benefit like increased endurance, because your team is so pumped up they're running on adrenaline.

 

they need a superstar mode, and i know the camera angle can be done cause if you are doing goalie mode and pull the goalie when you skate to the bench as the goalie you will control the player that comes off the ice with a goalie mode cam. it is awesome the camera sits right behind your head and it follows the puck.
