    He wanted to retire last year but he kept getting his but beat in each tournament. He busted his butt training, and got last years US Open win. No he is leaving on "top". But his career was long done anyway. Glad to see him go on his on terms, though. The thrown is now passed to the next generation of US tennis stars. No more Sampras, Chang, Courier, Martin, Agassi. Now its all Roddick, Blake, Fish, and Ginepri.

    i think john mcenroe (sp?) should come out of retirement :) ...i might actually watch tennis then :D

    ARE YOU SERIOUS!! Get it! No really, are you serious? He is getting old. He should stick to the Delta Tour (Old mand tour). :)

    sampras has had ankle problems for like 10 years, surprised it took him this long to retire.

    The new crop of players are an exciting bunch. I can see an amazing Federer/Roddick rivalry for the next decade.
