Seeing that we tested the ranked lobby in Season 15 & the IHL and that IMO there were no noticeable difference. The main focus of deciding which to use would come down to preference of building your player in the new game. As the poll says "ranked or unranked"? Ranked - Will help people get the games they need to level up but at the risk of not being able to choose the quality of people you play with, which in turn can affect your grade to get the cards. Unranked - I don't want a league and players to affect my grades and would prefer unranked. I do the leveling up on my own time.
I think ranked would be better just because no parts of the games can be changed, and helps get games in.
I vote for waiting till nhl14 comes out and trying those lobbies, because god knows how the game will play in 14...
why does that matter if you don't mind me asking? They've been the same, and that would be more about what lobby location more than ranked or unranked.
Well they have been the same, but so much changes in these NHL games overall it would be impossible to know till you really try it out, and maybe in 14 there are no unranked games lol who knows
Ozzy, although you may notice no difference unranked lobbies are based solely on the hosts connection, whereas any ranked games are based upon the 3 servers that exist within the world. (West coast NA, East Coast NA, and Europe) Unranked games are known to lag much more when the host is doing something on their internet and can cause everybody to lag in the game. This is how it's been since 09 implemented OTP. Although I won't even be buying the game I figured I'd let you know what the major difference is.
Lag-outs would piss me off when I get NO win and reduced grades for restarts.... With that being said, I still like Ranked, cause it makes me feel like it counts just a little bit more.
This is incorrect, EA stated that all online BAP are server based. Only Vs & HUT are peer to peer. "Known" to be laggy is just an opinion, we've tested it and I see no difference and the people I asked after last season saw no difference. Most of what you wrote is what people are led to believe because its said over and over. The only thing a host does is dictate which server the game is played on based on the closest to his location which could cause problems for people on the other coast. I have a hard wired modem with a wireless modem piggy backed on it, running 3 Xboxes, 1 PC, and 3 lap tops and still come out near the top of lobbies to host. I have no special boost or anything. I basically get random laggy games and an occasional boot. People can say what they want, its obvious its EA's servers, with the occasional personal connection or bad wire. Which sometimes may cause the game to lag. This is a good point Gigantor.....maybe we can add something to balance it out a little. Maybe make the team that had the lagout quit first as a penalty? But then the team left will have to take stats no matter who is winning.
Ranked, also if I am not mistaken all NHL 14 games will be on Microsoft servers this game so it could very well be different.
Ranked, if a player lags out then that team leaves the game first and takes the penalty for leaving the game on thier grades ect. The team that didn't lag out shouldn't have to take that burden. Ranked games also seem to promote a higher level of play since it will actually mean something to the player personally. (sometimes )
