Recently we have seen a number of bans from the league (mainly PSN) due to things said in the shoutbox, discord messages, xbox messages, psn messages or PM/Forums.

In the past, we always had a policy of these leading to MUTES or suspensions. Recently, we these have increased bc people are idiots and say dumb shit even when theyre "joking" but it has started to lead to League Bans and even Cap Bans for words. This is sort of what happened to LeagueArena when it collapses (old big xbox 6s league before LG) and UOHL (2nd biggest 6s league, banana league) Guys were getting banned over shit they said and it lead to arguments, quitting and people leaving the league which essentially made the leagues collapse.

The trickle down effect of league bans is massive. It effects every level of the site, NHL, ahl, and CHL due to call ups and open roster spots. I'm all for banning people who cheat or quit but I was always under the impression the mute was added for this exact reason and is always why BOGs have the ability to suspend players and mgmt. This has been happening for a couple yrs ever since the whole @KEAPPS and @PlayboiPryme debacle in the eastern conference finals and we've seen it more and more lately as people have been told to behave and that they're in thin ice, but it usually results from 2 people provoking each other or trying to be funny, or chirping each other

With that being said, should words or texts be League Ban eligible or should be mutes, mutes without buy outs + suspensions instead?

Yes - if you say something you shouldnt, you should be banned from the league

No - mute them, no buy out, possible suspension

Depends on the situation And up to the BOGS or person who files the complaint

If LG wants to be taken seriously as a home for NHL E-sports it will have to clean up their image.

Plenty of competitive leagues exist with standards of communication. Not hard to not use language that is considered ban-able.

If your fragile internet ego can't handle someone provoking you and you lash out with dumb stuff, you should probably spend less time here anyway.

Depends what is said. I made a stupid mistake and said something I shouldn’t have once and paid the price with a cap ban. I learned my lesson after getting banned tho. Although I felt it was severe for a first offence for behavioural issues.

    maybe a 3 strike rule.

1st strike - mute or suspension
    2nd strike - seasonal ban
3rd strike - cap or permanent ban

We all make mistakes so history of the player should be considered. And seriousness of offence. Joking around shouldn’t be a cap ban tho.

Definitely think the Ban/Mute/Suspension should ultimately come down to the severity of what's being said... Maybe having a specific group of unbiased BOGs in the league that's sole job would to be to review and assess these situations together rather than having someone take a quick look at it and take the word of whoever is reporting the complaint.

But on a side note, hearing about the UOHL got me feeling like -

If I was an investor and @Tris10 was asking me to hit up this site as a potential home for events, yikes if you catch the shout box at the wrong time..
The positive (if you call it that) is most of the "worst stuff" is said in team/management discords..

On the topic -- LG needs to figure out what it is trying to be in 2020. All these new tournaments are popping up, prizes in hand, and LG seems to be OK with trying to fit just a support role. I'd rather see the site attempt to bring investors in and be at the forefront of the tournaments. ESHL is a start, but CAPS GAMING was bigger in scale and (imo) better managed.

Things said in chatbox should be fair game to be used as evidence to get someone deserving banned. For example, this guy was talking about how he intentionally was playing bad and taking PIMs in the game they got stomped by us. That’s ban worthy per the league rules. Yet he feels enabled enough to post how nothing will come from it. And then we wonder why people don’t want to manage...

Now if someone is trash talking or says something inappropriate like a hard R or something, I feel like that should initially be a chatbox ban.

If LG decides to take a firmer stance, fine, but the most important thing is to be consistent with rulings IMO.

TLDR - Chatbox is fair game as evidence for a ban. Saying mean or inappropriate stuff should be a mute.

if you can get a capital ban for missing a hit in the last game of the season while your team is in last place, you should be banned for everything.

Just to clarify, trash talking is fair game. It’s the internet and it’s a competitive league. Don’t be so fragile. What I meant is that racial slurs or personal attacks or something heinous like that should be a mute and chatbox punishment since it’s words related. My other point was that if you are dumb enough to put stuff in chatbox that can be evidence to show you broke a league rule that is punishable by ban, then that’s your fault (Mxckie for example talking about how he put an IR request in to dodge playing with MIN last season.)

Nobody is saying they are getting their feelings hurt and need bans handed out.

It's about professionalism and the sites external image. You're thinking about this the wrong way.
