Team Golf Season 3 - Rules

Below are the team match-ups, courses, and format for the entire season. The team in bold is designated the 'Home' team with the other of course being the 'Away' team. A member of the 'Home' team should set up the match and invite his teammate in first, waiting until his teammate is actually in the room before inviting the members of the opposing team due to the way Tiger Woods '07 pairs players (by the order they enter the room). The 'Home' team will select the green speed and the 'Away' team will choose pin location. Rough length and fairway speed will be left at the default settings. Should go without saying that the difficult is 'Tour' and we're teeing off from the black tees. Having said that, whoever is setting up the match will need to coordinate with a member of the 'Away' team so you will know what to make the pin location when setting up the match.

Rules:

Really not many that need to be stated here but a couple of obvious ones.

1. No chipping on the greens unless the path to the hole from your lie on the green is obstructed. For instance, if the green is shaped such that your ball would have to travel through the rough or fringe in order to get to the hole, you may chip.

2. When chipping, only wedges are to be used. It has been discovered that the use of irons, when done correctly, will result in a very high percentage of chip-ins.

3. As far as disconnections are concerned, the process to restart is unresolved at this time. Unlike Links, Tiger does not allow players to concede a hole online, a glaring oversight IMO but I digress. We captains will be discussing this and will update this rule once a decision is reached.

4. Team members are allowed one match per week. So, even if a member is available for all matches that week, once they play in a match, they are not eligible to play again that week, even as an alternate.

5. There is no rule against one teammate offering advice to the other in regards to aiming a putt, what club to use on a shot, how much loft to put on it, etc. This is perfectly acceptable. A player may have all the coaching in the world but it still comes down to that player executing the shot properly.

6. Golf is a gentlemen's game and thus the last rule goes without saying. But, I'm going to say it anyway. Treat your opponent's with respect and keep conversation at a minimum while a player is making their swing. If you are someone that is easily distracted by others talking while you make a shot, please make this known at the beginning of the match. You should also consider turning down your volume during your shot as well.

As you might expect, all rules are subject to change as situations arise that dictate they do. You will of course be notified of these changes as they are made. If you have any questions about the rules, feel free to contact you captain.

I'm sure this was going to come up at some point so I will address it now. Army and I have come to the conclusion that the shot timer should be set @ :60 sec. This is a decent amount of time for someone to go to the bathroom and grab another beer :wink:

Keep in mind that we expect play to move a decent pace. Don't take :60 for every shot. It is just there as a courtesy.
