The end of a great s Well it's finally over, for the first time since August 2, 2002 Eric Gagne finally had a blown save. Might not have happened if whoever was playing 1st let the second baseman field that ball and then throw to Gagne for the last out in the inning. Ironically that last blown save was also vs. the D-Backs. The streak ended at 84 in a row, previous record was 54 by Tom Gordon. This record has to rank right up there with the ones we talked about while ago. I cannot see anyone coming within 20 of breaking this record.
Flash Gordon, I remember him when he was a Cub, good player he was. Even though Gagne lost his streak, he is still awesome and now with all that pressure gone I bet he will be even better.
Wow that is ironic. Some of the guys and I at work were discussing Gagne's streak and who had it before him. Now he goes and ends it.
do you guys think hell make the HOF, id say this streak helps his chances but i dont see him making it
LOL He still has quite a few years to play if he keeps pitching the way he is pitching so who knows. We'll see how his numbers are when he retires.
anyone know how old he is, i remember he use to be a starter for like 3 or 4 years. so hes gotta be around 30. he might have a shot
He's only 28 so he'll probably have another good 5-6 years maybe more being as he's a closer so who knows the skies the limit. I personally think if he has another 3-4 years with 40-50 saves he's a shoe in for the HOF especially with that record.
Made a mistake, his last blown save was August 26 not August 2nd. Just wanted to clear that up, cause Im sure someone would have came in and corrected me
