Not sure what the stance the league will take on this, but playing around in the general OptiMatch games online, I get a bunch of people that get mad when I purposefully throw outside the strike zone.

Last night was the most classic example to where (1st inning) I threw two straight stikes right down the heart of the plate, I followed up with a fastball in the dirt to which he swings and strikes out. The guy yells into his microphone, "Come on throw strikes!" then disconnects. This has happened so much that I purposefully don't throw outside the strike zone anymore because I don't want to piss anyone off.

I read on another forum how they want to institute a Volleyball type rule that goes something like only one ball out of every three pitches.

I too, suck at the plate - but I'm still learning. I don't think I would like it if someone threw nothing but junk all game long, but if it gets the job done...how can you complain?

personally i see nothing wrong with what you did. i am very inpatient at the plate and people have taken advantage of me always fishing at everything outside the zone. thats not there fault its mine.

dude i agree with you, you should be able to throw anywhere you want. That is why I think Pro should be used, it gives you time to read balls and strikes, work pitchers in the count etc...

From what I read most people on here favor free will on throwing balls or strikes.

Play me in an exhibition game if you want. I'm on all afternoon and tonight from 10pm - 2am central. Will be on the rest of the week as well.

I say try to play people in here, that will result in less disconnects.

How you pitch is strictly up to you when playing exhibitions and league games here. Part of the game is being able to recognize the pitches as they come in and hold off when you see a ball. A lot of times I will know it is a ball but still push the button, makes me upset but not at the one throwing the pitch but just at myself for swinging at it.

thats just plain comical...have any of these fools ever watched a MLB game? imagine "requiring" the pitcher to throw strikes? and people think the game is too high-scoring NOW?!?!?....imo, if you can get away with throwing 100 pitches in a row out of the strike zone, why on earth wouldnt you do it?...pitches out of the strike zone can still be mashed if properly judged....i just dont get the logic...i mean, the ENTIRE POINT of pitching is to keep the hitter off balance...now how can you do this if he knows hes getting a strike every pitch? stupid, stupid people out there in the world...yet another VERY strong vote for exclusivity with the friends list....i swear, if some of these games were played in person, id be in jail

I have also encountered this a few times online, someone dumping in the middle of the games because of pitches outside the zone. I have also had a guy bail due to me stealing bases.

All is fair. That's baseball for God's sake! Throw those pitches anywhere you want! We are not going to have a rule stating you can't throw balls are we?

Pitching out of the zone is part of baseball and if they are stupid enough to keep on swinging then too bad for them. Real baseball players will know what your doing and lay off when they need to then wait for you to come into them and take that pitch for a ride. I think everyone agrees if you can get away with it keep it up, and if they want to quit not much you can do about that.

    Thank God!!!

First it was looking like we were going to play on Pro and next it was looking like we weren't going to be allowed to throw balls...

i think we should....also, there shouldnt be any HR's allowed...chicks dig the long ball, and were not chicks...additionally, no "micro" managing such as holding runners on base, since we wont be allowing stealing

Im surprise by the comments here... I think you should throw meat all nine innings against me..

that's not all you should also spot me 10 runs.. Because I have a problem with losing leads..

ANd you should let me sub in my starting pitchers for relievers..

And you should not swing at balls close or in the strike zone...

Havent you ever played baseball before??????

There's the problem right there. Playing randoms on optimatch is completely luck of the draw. Sometimes you'll get adult players that play the game straight and if you kill them, they can take it, and other times you get kiddies that quit if they don't get a homer per inning.

Easy way to avoid it is to play LG people.

My favorite is throwing junk at the start and getting up 0-2 quickly, then they look for the same on the 3rd (I'll sometimes even throw it with 0 effort to make them think I'm wasting the pitch) and I throw it meat down the middle for a called 3rd strike. That REALLY pisses them off.
