What's the big deal about the higher team getting home? I've never seen the big deal and why people bitch about host. Win a few games and there will be teams below you, simple as that. Stop complaining about host, if you can't win as the away team then You have no business playing 6s.
12 is the only year that there was a noticeable host advantage. I'm not saying it's a good or bad rule, but there is no host advantage and honestly the host has absolutely little to no impact on the game. It's all in your head.
Whether that is true or not I don't know. But regardless, even if it is just a psychological thing, it's still a disadvantage then to be away (it's essentially a placebo effect). I'm of the camp that it doesn't have a profound impact but just about everyone on my team disagrees and I'm inclined to support them. Seems ridiculous not to just have an easy fix and make it every other and create a level playing field even if it just a psychological thing, no?
The rule is kind of dumb. Teams who play more games early in this tournament automatically get an advantage(If they win their games). You could've just gone with the simple "Whoever puts up the challenge hosts", or at least "Alternate hosts each time you play the same team". It's just a dumb rule and I don't see why it was made in the first place. Makes me wonder who the hell thought of that to begin with Lol. I don't really care personally, but I can see why there is an issue.
Just my thought, it would be nice if it did alternate between matchups if at all possible. Someone did mention a random selection by the website, I think that's a horrible idea because then you will have complaints on never getting home host and this will still be an issue. So while it does seem unfair at times to certain players (not myself) we all should get used to, '' winning on the road. '' Because come playoffs the majority of us will need to.
If home team doesnt have an advantage(Which i think it does just a little) at all, then please be consistent with the rule. When playoffs start for this have the higher ranked team home for all 7 games of the series.
i thought alternate home an away against the same opponent would make sense, but i guess im the dumb one here.
Also, how does this make any sense still? There are some serious issues that still need to be fixed with this system as a whole.
It doesnt, I've brought it up with Tris multiple times. The current points system will be changed, thats not how it was intended to be. Everything will be recalculated once fixes are made.
It allows games to be scheduled whenever, scores to be tracked, and lines to be put in. Only broken thing is reporting the points post game and once the system is fixed Tris can go back and re-calculate points based on what they should be. It hasnt been the smoothest start but I think everyone can agree that the games have been fun and competitive thus far.
Yep exactly, I didn't expect perfection but there are definitely some notable things that need to be fixed. That not withstanding, it is fun to see quality teams playing 6s regularly each night, whether I've been playing in the games or watching some of the streams, this tournament thus far is accomplishing what the main objective was. As far as necessary/potential adjustments, just so we have it all in one place: 1) Fix point scoring system 2) Alternate hosting 3) Add Locker-rooms 4) Allow custom team names in standings/roster page 5) The notifications for the stats is kind of annoying, if we aren't required to fill them out then they shouldn't get flagged. My team lost and I was still getting notifications for incomplete stats. 6) If we are counting stats - allow for them all to be displayed on the member state page Feel free to add anything I might've missed.
Think i tracked down a bug, it had who the "favorite" was reversed. Going to try to re-sync all the games.
