lol, doesn't getting a higher seed for the playoffs promote activity already? This is just a totally unnecessary addition. It just creates a more uneven playing surface as you are catering to the top of the standings. It is reward enough to get home ice for the playoffs, having home ice for every single game you play against a lower seed is insane. Dork's idea is best, it should just be a system that attempts to alternate each game. Obviously, this isn't totally possible as you might have two teams play one another that just came off home games, but even if the system was randomized it would create a lot more equality.
Jesus Christ, people. 1) Just like 3 pages ago, still no one cares. 2) If you're going to bicker about something no one else cares about at least learn how to operate a quote bubble.
What i should have said was, promotes early activity instead of waiting around for teams to get really high point total then play them and your 150 games and earn more points for a win. I do agree there should be a system for home and away instead of higher seed though.
Does it go go by point total or rank? Rank would make more sense then your point wouldn't matter. If it does go by point total then that could be an issue.
Higher seed getting home ice every game is just absurd. You should get more points for winning as the away team opposed to being the home team. OTL's should count for something. No more triple threat matches. When're we allowing teams to buy in extra players so that there's more money and activity in the tourney?
#FosterWatch2014 I want a one hour special on where he's gonna sign, and who's giving up their lunch money for him to play for their team.
Their roster was posted, you didnt have to read their minds, just their rosters post. The simple rule was posting on time. Anyways, issue dropped, GL to both teams.
Well the gamebattles example is a bad one. I have played gb for a long time and also most recently on the new cod ghosts. If you play the standard best of three series that you do on gb, the higher ranked team hosts the first and the lower ranked hosts the 2nd and tiebreaker. So the lower ranked team gets the advantaged. And if you did the best of one game series they consider that a tiebreaker game and the lower ranked teams hosts as well. Trust me I know our cod team blew dick and we always were lower ranked. If we are really going to just give the higher ranked team every single time a home game, then that's pretty ridiculous. I guess 9th has the one seed already locked up lol. Might as well play minimal as possible then.
I was going off NBA GBs because its a sports game, and that ladder seems to run smoothly and has a cash prize. The tournament isnt designed to have 3 games played against the same team in a row, and I get that it would be frustrating to play a team away 3 straight times, but the higher ranked team getting home isnt going to change.
It should Nuge, it is an awful "rule" (I'm hesitant to even use the word because you never made this clear to anyone on here) and something that can be fixed with what should be easy system logic. Just because one website does it one way doesn't make it a great solution. And the fact is you didn't mention anything about this in the initial rules either which means it should be subject to change.
You're comparing a ladder with 100+ (assuming) to a ladder with 17 teams, say a lot of people can't play one night and there are 4 teams on one team most likely has to continue to play off host, it shouldn't be that hard to have Tris just randomly generate who is home and away should it? I really don't care either way but I can see others point that playing over and over again off host may get frustrating.
Yeah for us (Tell Your Friends), we've had a crappy start and over the next week won't be playing very much, a lot less than the majority of the teams at least, so it's guaranteed that we are playing off host for a long time. At the same time for the most part the away host hasn't been bad at all, i'd say only one game so far affected the gameplay, and even then it definitely didn't determine the outcome of the game. Teams have been pretty fair with their hosting it seems but it's still annoying obviously to be in our position. If there is a way to adjust this that isn't too hard, I mean, it would be fair for everyone. It's not like its giving low-seeding teams an advantage, it's just leveling the playing field. I don't know a thing about programming though so I have no idea how hard it would be to fix.
What exactly is the reasoning behind the higher seen getting home everytime? (Other then just another ladder uses it) Seems incredibly unbalanced and silly. I don't see much merit to it.
Its a way to determine who is home and who is away. The other ladder is where I got the idea simply because I've seen it work perfectly for a while there. If anyone can think of another way (other than random) it can be considered for this tournament, or at the very least next tournament. Personally I dont think host is a huge deal, either the connection is going to suck, or it wont suck, it depends more on the EA servers than anything. Host is the oldest excuse in the books for video games.
playing away all 4 of our games is real fun espcially against the same team 3 times, and if you believe that host doesn't make a difference you're an idiot.
