    (1) Oklahoma City Barons vs (2) Rochester Americans - Rochester in 6.

    Eastern:
    Syracuse vs. Norfolk -
Syracuse in 6. Not too familiar with either team but I've seen that first line for Syracuse play and they are fantastic.

    Western:
    Oklahoma City vs. Rochester -
Rochester in 7. I've seen first hand how dominant Rochester's first line is and how solid their goaltending has been. I see this series going all the way and ending with the top lines dueling it out in the end.

Syracuse in 7 - Syracuse's offense is way, way stronger. Their first and second lines will be massive mismatches against anybody Norfolk sends out (Norfolk has 1 skater in the top 50 for points; Syracuse has 6). Defensively and with goaltending, Norfolk has the edge, but I don't think their somewhat better back end can make up for the mismatches on the front. Both teams have backup goaltenders who, while decent, have significant statistical drop-offs from their starters; both starters on both teams barely played in rounds 1 and 2, so if either team can actually get their starting goalies to show up, they will have a major advantage (Gray on Norfolk played 3 games in the first 2 rounds, Gally on Syracuse played 2; even in short series, that should not happen). If Syracuse matches lines well and keeps their 3rd line out of tough games, however, this series could end very, very quickly. Plus, Syracuse played in the brutal Eastern Northeast and is a little more battle-tested as a result. I may be a bit biased in making that statement, though. ;)

Rochester in 6 - Rochester has an overwhelming edge on offense. I struggle to see OKC taking down their first or second lines by outscoring them. On defense, I think that they have improved to the point that they are roughly on par with OKC or maybe just a step below them (OKC also dropped off a bit defensively over the course of the season and recently had a d-man banned). All that OKC has going for it in this matchup is their goaltending duo - they have a massive edge in this series in that regard. Leprechaun is great (see game 7 of OKC's series vs Toronto) and Brodeur l30l is good - However, Brodeur l30l cannot show up for only 1 game like he did last week, or OKC is sunk (having to ECU a goalie in this series would be a death sentence). LuckyIrish has been solid for Rochester, especially lately in the playoffs, but is still statistically a step down from OKC's duo. Clarke is statistically the weakest goalie left in the playoffs and will need to be played very strategically. Still, OKC's goalies will probably need to stand on their heads all series to advance.

Being on the receiving end of a couple of losses to Gally and not having played against JF/you (I can only look at your numbers) probably biased my analysis a little. ;)

In any case, I'm a sucker for season-long rather than short-term numbers, perhaps to a fault.

Its all good winston, I rather enjoy being "the backup". Let's me have more time playing, instead of worrying about statistics. Which in all honesty, made this season the most fun season I've had in 3 years.

Besides, I just wanted to get some traffic going in here. Your post are always well written and thought out, so naturally, quoting yours will get more eyeballs.

i do believe you have everyone's right eyebrow raised when they see you on net Wiz. As for me, hell I can't even get a word in edge wise with my own team. Let alone any respect. I have always appreciated anyone playing the backup role in here as goalie so it has been easy for me to slip right in there. I dig being Eddie Lack.

I got Rochester in 7 because they have a powerhouse offense and I don't think OKC will be able to contain them.

I think our series could go either way. It's a fairly balanced series and I'm looking forward to this week :D

Now that im out ill throw in my prediction.

    Syracuse in 6

Reason: Norfolk has been relatively untested all playoffs, they havent played against a team that "has it together" like Syracuse does and how Norfolk they respond to every single game being a grind determines how this series goes.

    Key to series:
Norfolk: How itransitions and wonger keep the room together and focused each and every night
Syracuse: Offensive production for the 2nd and 3rd lines

    Rochester in 5

Reason: I think OKC has the best goaltending duo in the league but ROC offense is too deep and every line has the potential to put up 4+ goals in a game and in a 7 game series its hard to compete with that sort of goal scoring.

    Key to series:

OKC: Offense stepping up and matching ROC production

    ROC: Goaltending

I thought Worcester would have put up a better fight against Norfolk (way to ruin my prediction streak)

NOR VS SYR - Syracuse in 6 - having the chance to see Syracuse quite a bit this season I don't believe Norfolk will be able to handle these guys. Hate to bet against Norfolk again but this time I feel that my prediction will be correct. I'm betting most games will all be very close

OKC VS ROC - Rochester in 6 - Rochester has been my favorite to come out of the West All season. OKC is a very good team but as others have mentioned, Rochester's offence will be very difficult to handle.

Good is luck to all teams
