What an irrational response...I posted examples of me playing and being a huge impact player in a league that was just as skilled as the nhl is in this league and your response is "stats are irrelevant, you're not good because I say you're not."
I guess nobody considers Mario Lemieux one of the greatest players of all time because of the stats he put up. It's probably because some guy somewhere declared it to be so and therefore it must be. Get real, stats are
huge part of evaluating a player's skill, and mine are undeniably good across the board at every skill level top to bottom.

virtual hockey statistics should be taken completely different from any normal player statistics. In this league a player's stats should be considered very lightly, at least 50% or lower in the players total scouting report. Game film is probably the best way to determine how a certain player can play.

Ill tell you why stats should be taken very lightly.

In this virtual hockey league, you have what is considered three lines. Only one line can play each game. Therefore you can get a lot line mismatches from week to week. Also depending on where your team is in the standings will determine how strong of lines you will face each week. Ill give you some examples to make this more clear.

Rochester didn't become a force until about 6-7 weeks into the season. They were not constantly getting top lines until then. You see when GMs put out their lines each week they try to put their top guys in against better opponents. So if you are a team who was 2nd or 3rd in your division then most likely you would not face top lines. That is why stats are mostly a mirage. Im not discrediting anyone from Rochester as they kept going strong once they were on top. Just giving an example.

Providence, for example, has been atop of their division and conference basically all season. Therefore, they have received top lines throughout the season from not only their division but from everybody. So you can say that their team has more reliable stats. However, due to scheduling issues, Providence still received lower lines causing a little bit of stat inflation. Same goes for every team honestly.

I find this to be the ideal scenario, but in a summer season, I was never able to really do it, because of player(s) availability.

 

Availability is fucking high on my list when I pick players. I basically had to get on my knees to get my players to show up when I needed them.

 

That's only somewhat true, some teams put their worst line out against great teams and rely on their good lines to beat bad teams to get their wins and vice versa. It all depends on the owner's strategy for the week. Also I wasn't on rochester till halfway thru the season, their vault to the top happened coincidentally the week after I joined. I'm not saying it was all because of me, but I was a big part. Also, per yur original argument that stats don't matter much because of line matchups, you can say the same thing about real hockey. I mean, James neal was an average 20 goal guy with Dallas, he got traded to Pittsburgh and he's a 40+ goal scorer. You think he just turned a corner in his career when he came here n he'll continue to be a 40 goal scorer with Nashville or do you think he's gonna have a massive production falloff this season when he doesn't have Malkin at center getting double teamed all game? That's why my stats are so important as justification of my ability, because regardless of playing for good teams or bad, I always put up wins and good numbers.

 

Man, dunno what crack pipe ur smoking but I want some. I went 5-3-1 against playoff teams this season, and 2 of those losses were in games on the last week that didn't even matter. I also went 1-0 as an ecu with Buffalo and that was against a playoff team as well.

First of all you were 3-2-1 vs playoff teams, you don't count playoff games. Oh look that's .500 damn the nhl must have been knocking at the door! 1-0 wow! I went 2-1-1 and also beat a playoff team with Calgary does that mean I'm also a top NHL defenseman? Hell no cause I'm not an idiot and know my role. You need to start giving more credit to the players around you and stop giving it to yourself. I'd be nowhere without the guys I play with.

 

There is more to winning games than putting up good numbers.

 

Saying that the games in that week didn't matter is just an excuse to cover up how bad your team played in those games.
