Idea for Ownership of teams

Since it seems like no team can keep their owners, I figured id post my idea on how the league could entice owners to stay and run a team properly: Money.

$5 to own a team. $5 x 30 teams = $150.
League keeps half for doing what they do and upkeep of the league.
That leaves $75 to be split between the Stanley cup champions and the runner ups.
$55 for the Champs and $20 for the runner ups. Sure its not much, but it is something for all the time the owner puts into their teams. (This could also be done for the AHL as well)

That's just a starting idea. One could even go bigger as to dream of a bigger buy in, and the owners actually pay their players with real money instead of a fake salary. Not only would it bring a new intensity to the league, but also attract more talented players.

Kinda the same principle, except youre not just getting all your friends together on a club team. It adds strategy and tactic to being an owner. Right now you don't lose anything when your team is being drug through your division.

If they did that, it should be, $10 to be owner, and if you dont quit by the end of the season, you get the $10 back

 

Then there wouldn't be a reward for sticking with it all season. you just get your money back. let people get greedy and go for the pot at the end of the season. Owners will get desperate and make crazy trades and expect more of his / her players.

 

It wouldn't be "oh, we lost. We'll bounce back next game." it would be like being on the high school team all over again. The coach lets the team know who's shit. Moves are made, and bench bait doesn't stay on the team.

 

Is there a reward in the current system?

 

If there was a reward, someone would be losing money...

 

Not that im aware of. Hence why people just quit the league in the middle of the season.

 

So don't put together a shitty team. build your dynasty.

 

I like S0ME ROCK'S idea of having the owners pay a deposit and then giving it back to them at the end of the season if they don't quit.

Your second idea is very interesting and creative, as it would actually make players want bigger salaries. But who would be willing to pay them? I don't personally think owners would want to pay players real money to be on their teams. Everyone would want to be a player in that scenario and no one would want to be an owner.

 

And the rewarded is winning the cup and having a winning team, having that banner next to your name...

 

Its not usually the stanley cup type teams that have ownership issues. The crap teams owners would still quit if the money went to the winners. I say $50 for nhl, $25 for ahl, and you get it back at the end if you stick with it.

well yeah, its just an idea and im no genius . im just throwing out building blocks. anyone can contribute. There are players on the site who donate upwards of $60 just to have a fancy name in the shout box. why wouldn't they do it to be an owner. As for paying the players, that's where the bigger buy in, and bigger pot comes into play. Risk it to get the biscuit. buy your players, pay them, and then the owner keeps the reward that's divvied out at the end of the season.

I was thinking, if they all payed $X, and 5 owners quit, it is divided up to all the Owners who didnt quit...

There still should be a reward for running a winning team and not a sack of potatoes.
