Yeah I totally agree, but for now it is more realistic, and I prefer realism over what we all want. I want a shootout system in real life NHL hockey, but for now I prefer the regular 5 minute OT following regulation to see if it is a win or a tie or a loss. Its just the way I am. But we could vote, and if there is controversy over who should be in the BCS/LG Championship Series, I am sure the admins can sit aside and discuss it!
Do a playoff and I might actually give it a try. The BCS SYSTEM SUCKS & always will. Besides it would be easier to set up under LG's format and who would be voting if you did it the other way.
Just wanted to throw this in: I am also 100% supportive of whatever you guys decide to use, I just thought it would be kind of cool if we had rankings. Maybe we can have a playoff system, and also have AP Rankings, just for the fun of it to see who we all think is best and all? Just a thought, but as I said, I will join no matter what happens!
I'm definitely interested!!! I would want my alma mater the Iowa Hawkeyes, plus I live only 2 hours from Iowa City. As for settings, I think a good idea would be to look at the various College Football Sights that had NCAA leagues for the PS2 for the past 2 years since they had online play capabilities. They may have some creative ideas on how best to run a league. As for you Mizzou Fan's I would galdly take you down with the Hawks as your school in real life has decided to turn tail and run and not play Iowa in 2005 - 2009 even though they signed a contract to. Mizzou didn't expect Iowa to be so good by the time the games came around, so instead of honoring the contract and playing the games, Mizzou has scheduled Arkansas St on the same date and says they will not honor the contract, your AD and coach's should be ashamed... Meanwhile we are left with a hole in our schedule for the next 4 years that we are going to have to now fill with patsies as there are very few quality programs with those dates free...
I say we put a limit on the number of teams like 64 or 32. That way we will have dedicated owners that won't quit. We could run 2 leagues if we had enough interested. I like the playoff idea too. I think conferences would be good also. We would just have to sub teams here and there(Like it was said earlier who is gonna take vandy in sec). We could just create a certain number of conferences and place a certain number of teams in them. I think it woyuld be cool to set up some kind of LG ranking poll where each team owner can vote their top 25, but that may be a bit hard to set up. Of course this could just be for fun and the playoffs will determine a champion once and for all.
Also when the word gets out about this game going live, I am sure we will have enough interested. We also need to get the word out in the other LG forums.
Well right now I am hoping for atleast 25 so we can have the Top 25 polls. This is how I see the polls working, you have the coaches poll, voted by the managers, and then you have the AP Poll, which would be a BCS type system in disguise, as we don't exactly have writers. Then the avg of the two polls will give you your current ranking. That is the best way I see it working on the voting as it would be the most fair. But there will be a playoff system with the Bowl games being the different venues, so for example from last year. You have the Fiesta Bowl and Rose Bowl be lik the semi-final games leading up to the Sugar Bowl for the NCAA Champion. For conferences or divisions I have looked at a lot of other college game websites and what they do is switch teams that are close enuf to that conference and that people want into a certain conference, such as we could switch Miami into the SEC to replace Vandy. I think it would be a little better to keep it to the regular conference names, just switch the teams around. Papernut, I would also like to keep it smaller and to people that can prove themselves, as I wouldn't really want to have to keep weeding people out and finding new owners. I really hope that we find enuf interest for this league as I think it can be one of the better ones at this site.
We will it will just take some time to get the word out, just like we did in Links. We could also have member voting for awards too, similar to the LG NHL league season awards. It is sounding good so far and it will be a success because the game is just awesome and will only get better utilizing Live and the Xbox.
I'm interested if the Buckeyes are picked, I could always go with the Toledo Rockets, my alma-mater........only a little bit over a month and a half to go!
I'm sure no1 would want my Fighting Illini, but my second favorite, the Wolverines, I'm sure will have some interest...
I'm sure this leauge will have more than enough interest to make it successful but we just have to hope EA won't charge us anything for online play otherwise we may lose quite a few people because of it
