I think everyone knew with nuge in charge he would let tris walk all over him "Hey man tris you want 33% for the first tourney, then 40% the next, then 50%? Okay man sign us up!" My team won't win any money anyway lol but it's the principle of the matter.. anyway yeah hope you guys have fun gl with nuge running it he's a push over.
I just think it is comical people are this upset over 3 of their dollars going to Tris for hosting this first tournament. Never mind the fact that he has to provide all of the infrastructure for a tournament like this (which is far superior to a site like GB or VG). Sites like GB and VG collect their dues as well, while it may not be 33% you most certainly aren't getting the same quality of service you are here either. I think at VG assuming you're not a premium member ($10 a month) they take a 20-25% cut from every buy-in (correct me if I'm wrong Keso). And again, this is the first tournament no where did he say this will be the regular cut. You same people have been bitching for not having a year end tournament for the last few years, and now when it is time to step up to the plate and get the ball rolling on something that has potential you all bail out because you're apparently completely ignorant to the fact that other people have to do work to make something like this happen.
VG premium is $4.99 a month, not $10. You pay that and then you don't get charged service fees on your matches.
Or, I dont know, I know how long programming takes and realize that the offer of 33% was a good one. Tris is obviously good at what he does, he could make a lot more money programming for something that isnt Video Game Hockey. If you'd like, I'll let someone else run this if anyone else wants to do it. I have other things I'd much rather spend my time on than running a tournament for a community that is full of ungracious imbeciles. To those who actually get why the percentage is what it is, and arent being idiots about this, thanks. Hopefully the community actually gets behind this tournament and plays whether I'm running it or not.

From what Nuge said, that's the plan. Here's how the numbers break down for this tourney. 4th place- get your money back 3rd place- win ten dollars playing a video game you play for free every single night anyway 2nd place- win 20 dollars while playing a video game you play every single night for free anyway 1st place- win 80 dollars playing a video game you play for free every night anyway. Those are the per person numbers. But, God forbid Tris gets paid to set up the software. EDIT: Those winnings are based off of the premise we have 20 teams participating.
Ok, how about this then... I suggested to Nuge back when he told me about this to propose raising the entrance fee to 15 or 20 bucks. That way, the winning teams make more money. How does everyone feel about that?

I feel like I'm allowed to disagree with the 33%, sorry not everyone falls in line with the nuge train of thought. Not everyone has to think it was a tremendous deal, and it's a not a surprise to me you would agree exactly with everything Nuge says.
I'm not agreeing at all. I think 33 is too high. That said, I don't want to see Nuge put effort into this then see it fall apart before it gets off the ground. Playing for an 80 dollar prize is better than playing for free, right?
My thought process is this: 33% is the deal It isn't perfect I didn't say it was some amazing deal that I worked out, it just is what it is. You're allowed to disagree with 33% being fair, but saying you would have done any better negotiating or that it's my fault that it's 33% is fucking .
you are all missing the point. the point of the money is not for a grand prize but to ensure that every team will compete and show up. also this torney is more about the bragging rights that DK has had for the past 4 nhl's even though they havent played since 10. and i think the name should be EASHL Super Series
