I think the anger is being directed partially in the right direction. While Norfolk's management had every right to file a complaint it should've been filed on Buffalo, as you, and everyone has stated. Rochester's management had nothing to do with their player being called up mid-game so they, nor their team should be punished.

 

Regardless, one of two scenarios occur:

Buffalo's G6 gets overturned and Anaheim wins the Stanley Cup, or, Rochesters G6 gets overturned and Norfolk wins the Calder Cup.

Either way you chalk it up, it was the Buffalo organization that fucked up, and are deservedly being punished. So if anger is to be directed, have it directed at either a) the league, or b) Buffalo management. If Rochester wants to get mad, have them get mad at Brando for fucking them out of a Calder Cup, or the league for enforcing this decision.

 

The thing is that Buffalo led the series 3-2 over the Ducks by the start of Game 6. So unlike Rochester, Buffalo was already guaranteed a seventh game if they lost.

Fuck what everyone else here is saying, don't play game 7 and take your cup. Literally EVERYBODY posting here would have done the exact same thing in your situation, but sadly they are the same people who will bitch and say they wouldn't, enjoy your cup boys.

This is why NHL and AHL management are supposed to communicate, especially since 9/10 times the AHL guys understand the rules more. If Brodie did okay it, obviously it should be overturned and you should forward an appeal, otherwise nerds.

Norfolk is indeed scared. I'm quiet on the forums cuz it is full of s but I will say that Syracuse's first line is one of the best I've ever played with and Rochester's first line is super comparable. Both have their pros and cons. Norfolk considers themselves to be just as ELITE so I don't understand why this is an issue. To try and win a CHAMPIONSHIP based on a technicality speaks volume and I think Norfolk should nut up or shut up. If you're so confident in your squad it shouldn't be an issue. You guys beat Syracuse which shows you guys are indeed a good team so I would play it and quiet down in the forums and let the game 7 speak for itself. To let the Calder end like this would be a fucking joke. Gotta let the big dawgs eat.

 

I will admit it's a weird feeling have it go down like this but instead of pointing the fingers at us let's look at it from our point of view.

After going up 2-0 Rochester decided to make a line swap without warning. The pressure was on so they made an illegal roster for roster swap without giving a warning and responded with 'you saw I was in the lobby you should have known I was playing'...didn't file complaint. Lost the game. Took it on chin(It's on twitch if you want to watch)

Game 4: I think there were 30+ viewers on twitch waiting for the game to start at what 1050ish? Could have called forfeit and been up 3-1.. Didn't do it out of sportsmanship. Let them get an ecu. Lost. Took it on chin.

Buffalo wants to win the cup so instead of ecu'ing a tc goalie in game 6 they have this wise idea they should yank their best ahl goalie and put him up in the NHL. (Can confirm if jay tried to take flyuken I'd be pretty mad).

Does it feel shitty to win like this? Yea it does because now all us players who worked equally as hard and gave up as much of our summer as anyone else are vilified because another team tried some 'slimey' shit and it came back to bite them after the 3rd time.

In what professional capacity of sports ( be it real or E sports) would a league of any type allow such an atrocity happen?

Leagues continue on due to a higher level of competition and fairness. Not slime balls who find every little technicality to win, no body respects that, nobody sees that as a higher level of competition.

In a league which prides itself on the closeness that it can provide, by simulating (virtually) a team sport. This -- this just can not happen. Every skater in the league sees this, and to some degree - I hope - feels sickened, cheated, and disgusted by the which a team, any team can win a championship 'this' way.

By not playing the series in full, and not affording the teams a game 7 due to such blatant abuse of a rules system that is designed to ensure fair play. It just cheapens the experience, and places a sour taste in the mouths of the players who enjoy competition.


I do not have the delusional perception that ALL who read this will agree with me. However, I dare anyone to put a poll up and challenge my opinion.

I planned to give him back to Rochester for their Game 7. I wouldn't knowingly compromise their lineups and they know that.
