You are right. F'ing time zones. The NHL has set a 12pm EST deadline for a deal, otherwise they proceed with the scheduled 1pm EST press conference that would presumebly end the season.
What's up? I have cable in my office but the ESPN is still in their repeats of SportsCenter..I don't have the ESPN News Network. No news could mean good news.
I'm still holding out Bob will call in the final minutes and a deal will get worked out, Thats really the only hope left, that is if they aren't working on a deal at this second God this is an emotional rollercoaster, How can something like a sport mean so much when it really means nothing at all
Check out this quote from Matthew Barnaby: So, does that mean the players were bluffing this whole time and just trying to get something for nothing? Also, kind of interesting if you haven't read these already, but here are the letters that were exchanged yesterday between Bettman and Goodenow: http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=1992428
Hey Juji...Is KFNS saying anything this hour? I would think they would be dedicating their airtime to this. Mike Claiborn is a huge hockey fan.
I just turned it on and they're saying that there is several reports going around right now. Some are saying the league upped their stance to 45 million and others are saying memos have been sent out cancelling the season. However, these are just "reports".
I would like to think that if the league bumped up to 45MIL , then this thing is fixed. We shall see. I have to go to a lunch meeting @12...Keep me posted my friend.
Gary left the door open, K. Campbell from the Toronto Sun asked "If the union comes back tonight and accepts your final offer, will there still be enough time to save this season" Gary left the door open for this last hope
I wouldn't count on that. The fight is now just beginning. This will only get uglier going forward. Goodenow just drove his the Union bus right over the cliff. What a disgusting day for hockey fans :-&
I really don't think this will happen. However, I have ESPN on right now and Darrell Pang, who I can't stand, is saying that with what Bettman said, that Goodenow might be getting tons of phone calls right now telling him to get to that magic number. Barry Melrose countered and said he doesn't see that happening and the season is over.
This does suck but I have to believe it is for the betterment of the league...at least I hope so. If it helps Calgary hang on to a player like Iginla instead of losing him to the Leafs, Rangers, Avs etc than I'm all for the wait.
