Please Vote! Nobody cares about Superfinals

Imagine spending months with your team in the regular season, then winning series after series in the playoffs and finally winning the Calder / Mem Cup. Huge celebration from everyone on the team as you finally won your well deserved cup… but hold up you still have to play another series? Why? You’ve already won. This superfinals doesn’t make the cup any more special and honestly nobody really cares all that much about winning or losing in it. You’ve already won your cup and playoffs are over. This superfinals just feels like an exhibition series between the consoles.

We’re losing a full week for an AHL and CHL superfinals that has very little interest, even though LG has been trying to find ways to shorten the off-season. I get that it might have drawn some interest when it was first announced, but literally nobody watched those games and nobody cares about them. Everybody’s just gonna check the results after it’s done and laugh as Xbox wipes PSN in every series as literally everybody predicted.

The only cross-platform series that mattered was the NHL finals since they were actually playing for the Stanley Cup. But that was played a week ago anyways. These other two series in the AHL and CHL are nothing but a waste of time and a forced use of the new cross-play feature in NHL 23. Again I understand that putting Xbox vs PSN would’ve drawn interest back when cross play was announced, but it doesn’t anymore.

Get rid of these superfinals and give hockey back to the rest of the league a week earlier. I’m sure nobody will miss it.

 

Correction the season was pushed back for a different reason but i’m still curious to see the voting results

 

nothumbslive 3846 views for the superfinals 2 days ago, calder cup finals 3955 views 8 days ago.

I don't know if you can say people did not watch the series when is was close in views.

plus ahl/chl superfinals did more views then the Stanley cup finals on nothumbslive.

Imagine spending minutes on this forum after the conclusion of the Cross Platform Finals typing a long forum post about disliking the cross platform cup.

We all have lost a full few minutes reading this post that generally I had little interest in to begin with.

This thread could have mattered if more people cared about it.

I agree with this, I think if they wanted to doa game.. make it an exhibition all-star game at the end of the playoffs during the offseason where managers and owners vote for the best players via a stat graded pool of the better 10 % of people or what have you; to generated a decent pool of players to choose from. Makes for more media opportunities along the season… make it optional. Players would have to except responsibility to play.

I didn’t mind playing it.. got something out of it I guess. Can say most of us didn’t really care though and just wanted to make sure we won against psn.

 

I think after seeing PSN won like 3 games total out of the 15 that were played from each series - a split NHL is not something LG should continue. it was a cute little experiment that proved what we already knew and it should go back to 32 NHL xbox teams.

 

I think their plan was always to go back when numbers allowed it. Last year we saw so many vacant NHL owner spots which would end up getting filled by chl or poor ahl guys. I agree there’s no point in playing psn but the NHL started to get really watered down or complete randoms were getting teams because many top guys won’t own.
