    w/ Lundieeee

Welcome back to Between Two Pipes with Lundieeee!

As the trade deadline is now in our rearview mirror, we will take a look around the A to see what teams have bulked up in between the pipes for a playoff run. I will also take a look back and see how dogshit I did in predicting the good goalie tandems. For people who don't know what GSAA is, it is the most accurate advanced stats to evaluate a goalie. It compares an individual goalie against the league average goalie. The value that gets spit out from the below equation gives you the goals you have either surrendered or saved compared to the league average goalie. The more positive the value, the more goals you saved. The more negative the value, the more goals you have surrendered.

**In order to qualify for the top 10's you needed to play a minimum of 21 games (3/week)**

    GSAA = [Shots against x (1 – league-average save percentage)] – goals allowed

Lundieeee's Top 5 Tandems for A Playoff Run

    1. :team299: Grand Rapids Griffins :team299:

There's not much to debate here. This team is built for another deep run. Donny and Cubs will be looking to boost their egos to a place I don't think much of us could handle. I mean let's face it, these managers managed to win a Calder when their 3rd line didn't win a game all playoffs long. Darcy will run the ship come playoff time and shut opposing teams down, and Scali will steal some games too. These guys are probably just bored at this point.

    2. :team303: Binghampton Devils :team303:

The number one team in the Eastern Atlantic built a solid duo here. DevilsR3aper has been amazing this year as he looks to set career highs. Picking up Thomps79 has seemed to have been a good grab as he is looking to break above that .800 Sv% by end of the season. Props to Roubidoo and Tertle for building a very good team and tandem here. You have set these goalies up for success as we inch towards playoffs.

    3. :team352: Providence Bruins :team352:
Tied for first in the AHL for points, this team won't lose because of their goalies. GOAT and Reaper have been good this year but with their team being this good you'd expect them to be. GOAT has a ton of experience in the playoffs and will be a wall for them. Reaper has had only a little exposure but has posted a very good .819 save percentage in his AHL playoff career. Consider these guys my front runners out of the east.

    4. :team314: Hartford Wolf Pack :team314:

Hartford is battling with the Bruins and Checkers for home ice in the first round while JT13 and Eden are having good seasons. JT does not have much experience in the AHL playoffs so look for Eden to steal the show come that time. He's a veteran goalie who knows how to handle the big games and has the ability to steal games.

    5. :team410:Utica Comets :team410:

Only 2 points out of a playoff spot, watch out for this team to sneak in. Murray is a good AHL goalie and will look to steal as many games as possible for the next 3 weeks. If these guys can get in, they have the goaltending to steal a game or 2. Hopefully, the team in front can do their part.

GSAA is not a perfect stat but it does paint a pretty good picture of who the good goalies are around the league. Good luck to everyone in these last 3 weeks. Your chirps and feedback are very welcomed.

    Looking Back...

    1. :team350: Hershey Bears :team350:
I was pretty confident in this pick. Schloops is one of the better goalies in the A and has a solid backup in Slippery In Net. Schloops is right within the SV% range I predicted preseason but I expected him to be above .800 given the team he is on. Although I assume Slippery is getting the 3rd line games the most, you want to see that save percentage at least be .770 on a 2nd place team. At the end of the day, both guys are getting the job done, and don't be surprised if these guys step it up for playoffs.

    Preseason Rank: 1
    Deadline Rank: 24

    2. :team518:San Deigo Gulls :team518:
My boys! You got Jake back on the squad from last season and Zero has been solid. I'm not worried about the save percentage here as these guys are seeing a very low volume of shots, and they cant pad the stats with turds because their defense is ELITE. This tandem will be ready to BUZZ come playoffs. I was way off with this one but the stats don't tell the story here. Let's just hope Sharp doesn't blow it again.

    Preseason Rank: 2
    Deadline Rank: 23

    3. :team314: Hartford Wolf Pack :team314:
So I didn't rank them higher in the preseason because I did not think that their team would hold up in front of them. Well, I was wrong. Almost spot on with this prediction, the Wolfpack doesn't have to worry here.

    Preseason Rank: 3
    Deadline Rank: 5

    4. :team618: Tucson Roadrunners :team618:
Well, both goalies who started the season aren't here, and they have now used a total of 8 goalies thus far. I don't know what's happening but we all knew this team wouldn't be the same as S35. Now Cream and Empire are between the pipes. Cream is a solid guy and I have no clue who the other guy is. If this team makes a run, they shouldn't look for their goalies to steal games. They will be solid, but the team has to play well in front. Completely different tandem but not too far off I guess.

    Preseason Rank: 4
    Deadline Rank: 13

    5. :team299: Grand Rapids Griffins :team299:

Donny and the gang are ready for another cup run. This team is just rolling through the A with very little problems. I picked this tandem to be elite and they still are. Darcy will be cracked come playoffs, and new backup Scali will provide more than enough saves to steal games. Watch out LGAHL, it's going to be hard to score against this team...

    Preseason Rank: 5
    Deadline Rank: 2
