Your TLDR didn't prove this isn't true at all.

It just says you must try to start a game before claiming challenge issues. if there is an issue, the guy won't join the lobby either way. You can simply claim that a guy didn't connect after you join the lobby with 5 people.

The best practice that stops this is to have a team to take a screen shot of all 6 players IN the dressing room when they go to claim issues with CC.

If after the game when that screenshot is automatically attached to the game or there isn't one at all, the team who claimed it either forfeits or the game is rescheduled and the player who wasn't there must be replaced by ECU.

Read it again. The purpose of the thread is to educate the general public on how things work here the expectations we have for players based on our timelines each night.

BOG have had a game rescheduled based on a streaming showing both sides trying to get into a game whereby a player cannot connect to the challenge lobby

BOG have also ruled in favor of a forfeit due to the fact a team asked for extra time outside of the "ten minutes past official" game time marker and did not send a club challenge EVEN those that team claimed club challenge issues...

It is all addressed. This season is no different than others. The deadlines are in place for teams to enforce. If a team does have obvious issues with club challenge it will be evident to BOTH teams when the invite is sent and not everyone makes it in.

That also protects a team from having a forfeit claimed on them when a reschedule should have been the option they took. Imagine yourself being in a game heading into the third period winning by a goal. Then you lag-out and you spend 20 minutes trying to connect to the club lobby only to have the game issued as a forfeit loss for your team. Do you feel that is fair when there is nothing any of us can do right now in regards to club challenge issues?

The post brings to light all of the timelines that a standard games follows. Of course some nights see issues and some managers simply don't want a forfeit win. I'd rather wait the 20-30 minutes and lose than take a forfeit win. But my opinion is based off of putting 40+ hours a week into this site and league so when its time to play, I want to play....

I think we are seeing a bit of abuse, but we are also seeing legit issues. The Management in the AHL all have(for the most part) a strong working relationship that we shouldn't see issues really at this level.

I think as long as players read what I posted like you have, and our managers continue to communicate with one another and show each other respect we wont see issues. There is a major difference having a game start at 9:46 because a goalie JUST got off work and no ECUs are available compared to waiting 20 minutes lying about connection issues so a player can his banana league game....

When you challenge, it also shows the number of players in the DR so they can't really fool you unless they are really committed to it

That is false, ahl exists as our main source of ecus, if you're not subbing for your NHL team, bc you have an ahl game then GTFO.

LG needs to reestablish the heirarchy of things around here. We are a simulation league. Everyone of you should want to be in the NHL. I know it's "bullshit, drama, politics" so you'd rather play in the AHL which is literally the same thing. You guys signing up late so you can go AHL or taking AHL management (not to gain mgmt experience but just to "play with friends) when you're an NHL player or even a better NHL management selection than a couple of the NHL guys.

On top of that we have some of the guys we make 3rd line bids on who don't pan out but we can't take guys off of our AHL team bc you guys bitch and cry about it (this hasn't happened to me I'm one of the managers who has the ageeement with my
AHL not to touch their guys unless it's my only option) This is a huge issue along with no salary adjustment if we call up a top AHL player on our AHL team and the fact we can't send anyone down automatically through waivers if we want to call someone up from our AHL unless they're an amateur. Finally, we have the guys who for some reason signed up late and missed NHL and AHL bidding but are better than a ton of people in the ahl and even some guys in the NHL but bc they signed up late, we can't call them up or ECU them bc it's not fair and bc their salary is 500K. We need to implement some type of salary calculator when a player signs up late or when a top AHL player is playing well and we want to call him up and give him a shot. Basically we need to make it so the best of the best are in the
NHL. That's how it should be, that's how it's suppose to be, then maybe a lot of teams wouldn't have shitty 3rd lines and the successful AHL guys could get called up to try and get a shot in the NHL and make an impact and if not be sent back down without being claimed or even better have us send our guy who isn't working out down so the ahl isn't completely left out to dry.

These are all HUGE issues on why this league is losing its luster and less people want to take mgmt and more and more veteran players stop signing up @LG McDonald @Tiddus

Article II, Section 1.5 (in part):

"Players or goalies whom are scheduled for a game on their current roster are ineligible to be scheduled/play as an emergency call up (ECU) for their affiliate team. The only exception is in the situation where the GM whom scheduled the Player releases the Player to be used as an ECU."

You don't have to like the rules, but as an owner you should at least know the rules.

I agree with you in part:

There should only be one sign-up deadline, period. If you don't sign-up by that deadline you are only eligible for ECHL or CHL (depending on whether you are a V/A or a P) as an RA. This is the most reasonable way to ensure the best talent filters to the NHL.

Try and pull that rule and see if you ever get a GM spot again. The games are 30minutes apart for a reason, its one of those rules thats in there bc the AHL guys complained when it effected them, but mainly its near the end of the week when your rostered players have reached their games limit.

There should be no filter to keep players out of the nhl, there needs to be something to adjust for the players salary to get them into the nhl or ahl, we shouldnt have better talent in a lower league in any situation, thats the point im trying to make, thats why the league isn't what it should be

Nice confession of intent to discriminate against managers who exercise their rights under LG's constitution.

NHL games, like most games, rarely start on time. Throw in a disconnect or two and it causes shit that flows downhill. That causes 11 other people at the AHL level to sit around and wait, or have to find an ECU to replace the guy. Since we generally try to put the same guys in two games on one night, both games end up getting delayed.

Fortunately my owner is not an asshole, and we've generally been able to supply him with an ECU who was not already scheduled to play that night. You don't need the guy who is playing that night for us. You need a guy. You get a guy. We try to make it the best guy available.

We're your affiliates, not your dogs.

    =====

You fix the problem you've stated by having a single sign-up for all leagues. All eligible players are thus in bidding at the same time, and NHL bidding naturally goes first.

Again, im not one of those people but youre right, thats how the league should be ran to cater to the lower leagues . . . The point of leagues is a place to play 6 on 6 with the best on the best being at the top, thats why there is an NHL and an AHL. Its not our fault the league decided to make games 30 minutes apart. It use to be much simpler when games didnt take as long, took quickly to set up and everyone actually tried to start games before the start time not, regularly 10 minutes after. This all start bc NHL 16 had captain delay and we were all very understandable and had an agreement to not take FFs bc of games starting late bc everyone signs up in a league to play not to get free wins.

I also am not saying we should intentionally take the guy who is playing that night, you do realize when we take a guy, its bc we have to and we want the guy who will give us the best chance to win. If you happened to have him scheduled that night, that is not our fault and you are the NHLs affiliate, hence why there is no AHL owner. The point of the AHL is suppose to be to supply the NHL, the league has lost site of that and all i was saying is that has cause the talent and competitiveness of the league to suffer. We have seen new rules each season because people exploit things and that has made the league worse (talent wise when it comes to depth and competitive wise). Now most of us NHL owners, myself included, get along very well with our AHL teams and it helps build sort of a winning organization and make things easier for everyone. However, you guys need to know what youre signing up for, if the NHL team loses guys do to suiting or trades and needs a guy to replace him, im saying it should be the best player in the AHL in his organization, but in LG we do not do that bc of the salary discrepancy, late sign ups and the sort of unwritten agreement most good owners have with their AHL and in that sense the system is flawed

In the real world, there are additional incentives for affiliation. Parent clubs, for example, pay a portion of the salary for players they have assigned to an affiliate. Even unaffiliated teams can call up a player from a lower tier team, and the affiliate team gets a payment for it. Guess what, we don't model it to that level of detail here. This is a hybrid model and it is necessarily going to have to differ from the real-world in some aspects if all leagues are to remain competitive and engaging for the players.

If one of your guys doesn't show up, that's not my fault. If you happen to want a guy that I have scheduled to play on a given night, that is not my fault either. The 12 people scheduled to play a 930 in the AHL are not a lesser race of people or less important than the 12 scheduled to play at 9PM in the NHL, and the failure of one of your players to show up should not be made a burden on 12 people who are not responsible for it.

If you want dedicated availability for a player, call them up to your roster. If this isn't satisfactory, LG should consider some changes:
    • The only players an NHL team should be able to call up permanently are players on a rookie (ie, drafted by an NHL club and on their rookie contract) or NHL contract (contracted via NHL bidding).
    • NHL will have priority on ECU scheduling for players on a rookie or NHL contract because those are their players, loaned to the AHL club.
    • Any players an AHL club secures through AHL bidding are theirs exclusively. They may be ECU'd with permission of the AHL GM but are not eligible for full-time call-up.

    @SweeT 9 LoU 84

There would need to be a few other rule changes as well to support post 59.
    • All players must sign-up prior to NHL bidding, or be relegated to ECHL as ECU's only. (Enjoy your trial mode of LG please sign up on time next time.)
    • NHL and AHL teams would be given a few additional bid slots. For NHL, those additional bid slots would be used to secure the rights of premium amateurs to assign to their AHL affiliate. Similar for AHL, but those players would be assigned to TC/ECHL.
    • Salary caps for AHL, ECHL, and CHL could be reduced, along with minimum bids, to be more realistic.
    • AHL management would be finalized and approved AFTER NHL bidding. This ensures high-skill players cannot hide in the AHL as management.
This emphasizes the importance of a smart drafting and bidding strategy at both the NHL and AHL levels, while providing some built-in rules of engagement between the leagues that are not arbitrary or dependent on not having a schmuck owner. NHL is able to secure a number of players for ECU/call-up use, and AHL is able to build a core that can't be ripped apart on a whim.

(edited to add the ahl mgmt and salary cap items 5:42pm eastern)
