:D I know. It's like, hmm, what were we playing for several seasons before Madden was on Live? Here's a hint: ESPN NFL 2k3, 2k4, 2k5, etc...

I've bought both titles every year for as long as I can remember. I enjoy Madden more playing against another human, and ESPN more against the computer.

Awesome, that would be sweet if MLB was taken from EA

Actually, it would be Sega MLB Baseball or whatever they'd call it.

EA would own ESPN, so they'd have to call it just ESPN MVP Baseball or something like that.

Man, this is the end of sports games as we know it. I liked when they competed with each other buy cutting prices, not buying licenses

Not sure where either of you got that from. Be careful buying into MP's logic hes never been known for his powers of deductive reasoning. I know you've played espn. That should give you an edge. :D

I love how I pop off with the "fanboy" and all of the sudden it's all over this post!

We've been debating the same BS for the past god knows how many months. Face it...there will be those of us that like Madden and those that like the ESPN franchise. Either way...without competition in the market you'll have the whopping choice of buying Madden or NFL Street 3 next year. How is that fair to the consumer.

And before you pop off MP...think before you speak. Because you know as well as everyone else here that having one developer monopolizing the sports market will not bring about any significant changes in the coming releases.

Before you pop off B... think before you speak. What does purchasing the right to ESPN have to do with Sega making sports games? That's right nothing...I played many of sega sports games that did not have the ESPN title on it. For me, EA purchasing the rights to ESPN can only make games such as Madden better. Now not only do I get the gameplay that I love, but I also get that ESPN feel that I also enjoy. If you want to b*tch about EA buying exclusive rights of the NFL and such then fine, but to b*tch about EA getting exclusive rights to the ESPN name is kind of silly IMO.

I dont know if it was mentioned before, but I read somewhere that Fox Sports wants a peice of the pie also. It didnt mention what their plans are, but we might hear from them in a few weeks/months.

We're all getting mad at EA, ESPN, VC, and Take-Two, but I dont hear anyone complaining about what the players association or the pro sports themselves. They are the ones forcing these developers to bid for their rights. The greediness of the sports industry is the problem here, not the EA or the other developers.

Exactly. One of the articles I read (possibley posted here) was that the NFL players association was the one pushing the idea and looking for a bidder. EA happened to get it. Otherwise it would've just went to someone else.

Well I am going to have to play Devils Advocate here.

The early bird gets the worm and EA stepped up and paid the money.
Just as in the real world even loyalty has a price to some. ESPN has been trying for years to launch their sports titles off the ground and now combined with the EA folks their game goes to another level!

It makes contracts easier and less confusing for advertisers and network talent alike.

I am sure that this was in the works way before they signed their deal with SEGA. There were just too many issues against SEGA in this thing.

I like both franchises but with this EA machine behind ESPN.....WHEW!

I'm sorry but the FOX people don't have a leg to stand on. Maybe they could make a video game for poker or something but when your lead team of game analysts = Chris Collinworth, Joe Buck, and Troy Aikman..Just can't add up to Madden..You know??? John Madden

    But I love the ESPN2K5 though....WAR JETS!

    Yikes...

How does buying the rights to ESPN deserve that comment?
