This game is like the 2nd coming of Christ for me...I mean the hockey sucks...BUT YOU GET TO DRIVE THE ****ING ZAMBONI!!!! THE ZAMBONI MAN, FINALLY WHAT I ALWAYS WANTED IN A HOCKEY GAME HAS FINALLY COME TO LIFE...I CAN'T WAIT FOR 2K9 =D (Actually no I can't...Why do they even bother making sports games 2K is horrible at it' but i'm totally truthful about the Zamboni thing...I've always wanted to make the ice smooth and shiney on my own not let the ******* computer do it...Bastard computer Zam driver)
FInally played the Demo. Things to keep for 2k10 The intros Things that need improvement Skating-I felt like i was skating in quicksand. The overall feel of the skating engine needs an overhaul. Goalies- The net looked way too small, and the goalies look terrible. Especially after they make a save and have the puck they sit there like statues with there glove up in the air. Player Models- They all looked the same to me. Gameplay-Sluggish to say the least. Holmstrum was skating at 2 miles an hr at one point..lol It was terrible. Felt like i was playing a game made in 1999. Grade-D (it would of been an F, but the intros brought it up to a D)
nothing. i was just saying that Nhl 08 and 2k9 have practically the same control scheme. NHL 2k9 and NHL 09 drop in like 2 weeks! can ya feel it? I do. Plust the 09 demo is coming out this week, if the NEW reports are true. Its almost that time.
yeah all you need to do is go to options and change it to pro stick evo. makes everything a lot better. after having NHL 08 and 08 i couldnt imagine using the old 2k controls.

If 2k went back to their 30$ price tag I would buy it without question. Isn't no where near where it should be but with all the sliders (2k8) case and point you can still have a fun game to mess around with. Plus 2k's franchise destroys EA's
How the hell can you enjoy franchise mode with that gameplay??..it kills it dude. I really dont think sliders are the answer here either...Sorry to break it to ya, and anyone that tells you otherwise is lying to you...lol
I have 2k8 out of the box i absolutely HATED IT. Went online found some custom slider settings and it still didn't play fantastic but the flow and pace of the game felt more realistic then 08. The movements and all yeah are still off and are off in 2k9. EA will still win hands down and i'm sure i'll be sticking with EA. 2k can be a fun enjoyable experience just remember it isnt EA and isnt trying to be.
I agree with most of u when i say the game just isn't good enough to compete with EA. Gameplay = C - Like always 2k has that realistic feel to it when it comes to shooting, rebounds, how the puck can end up anywhere is cool etc... but the puck control is horrible. The passing is nice and feels realistic and the saucer pass is 100x better than EA's pathetic one, but the skating engine is a complete mess. I think they were trying to make it easier for a player already in stride to gain speed and breakout easier, but they screwed that idea up royaly. Like others have said it feels like u are in quick sand @ times and u cant move for the life of u. Graphics = B+ - The ice looks amazing, even the player closeups are rounded and look less boxy compared to EA's. Models = D - Although they improved the player models from years passed, 2K has never and probably will never create a goalie model comparable to EA's. The player modles are decent but as soon as i see the goalie it ruins it all for me. However when ur in game mode the goalies look fine. Animations = C+ - They had it going with cool goalie saves and how they come out and challange shots and stuff. But the hitting confused me... they had some really realistic looking bumps and hits but then sometimes u'll hit a guy and he'll star fish out on the ice like he's dead :S Also the Slap shot animations look weird... Shooting Engine = D - It's a mess.... can't get the puck off fast enough... the wrist shots seem very slow and weak alot of the time. Shooting on the rush is a lot harder than it should be. It seems hard to get a backhand off ! i dont know if thats just me or the game. Overall = C Even though the EA 09 demo seems to be 08 with new rosters and a few new features, they kept the game at the level it should be and didnt add anything stupid to ruin it like they have in the passed.
