That would be the fight... Best part is Takayama wasn't even an MMA fighter. He was just a big oaf pro wrestler that was the champion of New Japan Pro Wrestling which Pride owned. In a way, he was the first Brock Lesnar. FULL FIGHT HERE http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3tm3a_pride-don-frye-vs-yoshihiro-takayam_sport
04... we gotta talk about more Puroresu in our conversations. Also, the broken ankles from the heel hooks was his fight with Shamrock.... It's been like 6 years, you can understand my error.
I took and 3-4 day break from the game and after spending an hour or so with the game today, I can beat shogun 90% of the time on expert. Theres always that 1 time that he somehow gets me on the ground and gets me in a submission no matter what i do.
I've gotten to where I can knockout shogun on expert pretty consistently, the key for me is to stay on my feet and look for a good counter after he misses one of his ***** punches.
Yeah thats what i do. You dont wanna get in a wrestling match with that man lol. Whenever he takes me down im rushing to get back to my feet. I usually look to counter him after his high kicks.
I'll go to the ground with Shogun all day, just only on my terms. Don't use the double leg use the clinch takedowns because you won't end up in the guard. Rubber guard was a problem for me for a day or two but counters and blocks now nullify it. Use the right block when he lifts his leg and the left block when he has the RG and slips his hand under your leg. Use half guard to strike on the ground I use the Couture philosophy that it's the safest position and that applies in the game. Wear him down in HG then mount or use side control once his stamina is half depleted. All positions are doubly effective if you can maneuver him to where he's pinned against the fence. If he gets you in guard and you're near the cage do the pick up slam, posture and alternate strikes/grapple blocks it's such a dominant position. Mark my words wrestling will be the dominant discipline in this game. Ground control and clinch work is such a vital part of the game.
I can't wait until the 19th. First person I want to fight is "the moustache man" Parros Tickles himself. You'll learn just how dangerous it is to go the ground. Even at expert the computer is just too predictable. It's so easy to block transitions, tire out your oppenent and go to town. The online aspect of this game looks like it is going to be amazing however... 15 days.
i just put 53 dollars on the game today with the things i traded in along side my ps3. which got me two fighters. i dont even know which ones.
I assume you got this through Gamestop. It's the only place with exlcusive DLC. The fighters are Ryan Bader and Efrain Escudeiro. Murph: That inverted choke is ALL over the internet. Extremely limber dude.
gamestop indeed. Ill probably never even use those guys. I got about 15 other people i want to fight with first. and that inverted choke was crazy. If i ever tried that, the guy would collapse and tap out because my fat ass broke his ribs.

Speaking of him. No Dean Lister in this game is pretty poverty. He's the perfect dude for my strategy. It's a lay 'n pray/submission ground game hybrid.
Yeah i cant believe how many fighters they are going to have for their first game. First thing ill end up doing is doing a Forrest Griffin vs Stephan Bonnar match.
I hate to argue with such a prestigious gentleman. But you can't honestly think Maia has better ground skills then Dean Lister. It would close but just the fact that Maia knows how to throw a punch means Lister is better on the ground, because he doesn't waste any space in his mind on anything other then ground work. Lister is nothing BUT ground skills. His entire game is based around the fact that he's the best on the ground, and the worst at every other aspect of fighting.
